Fethi Nadjem, né en Algérie et établi à Toronto, est un multi-instrumentiste qui jette un pont entre les traditions nord-africaines et les musiques du monde contemporaines. Membre fondateur de Djmawi Africa, l’un des groupes phares de la scène algérienne notamment reconnu pour l’album Mama (2007), il a tourné à l’international pendant plus de vingt ans avant de s’installer à Toronto en 2017. Il a ensuite collaboré pendant six ans avec Jesse Cook, cosignant plusieurs titres de l’album Libre (2021) et participant à de nombreuses tournées à travers l’Amérique du Nord. Aujourd’hui consacré à son projet solo, il développe un univers sonore singulier où se rencontrent le violon, la mandole algérienne, le guembri et les percussions, au carrefour des influences gnawa, andalouses et folk. Son premier album solo, Time 9, paru en 2025, marque l’ouverture d’un nouveau chapitre après plus de deux décennies de créations et de collaborations artistiques.
Fethi Nadjem, born in Algeria and based in Toronto, is a multi-instrumentalist who bridges the gap between North African traditions and contemporary world music. A founding member of Djmawi Africa, one of the leading groups on the Algerian music scene, best known for the album Mama (2007), he toured internationally for more than twenty years before settling in Toronto in 2017. He then collaborated for six years with Jesse Cook, co-writing several tracks on the album Libre (2021) and participating in numerous tours across North America. Now focused on his solo project, he is developing a unique soundscape that blends the violin, the Algerian mandola, the guembri, and percussion, at the crossroads of Gnawa, Andalusian, and folk influences. His first solo album, Time 9, released in 2025, marks the beginning of a new chapter after more than two decades of artistic creations and collaborations.
