OSM : Charles Richard Hamelin et le Concerto no 2 de Prokofiev

Le pianiste Charles Richard Hamelin sera de retour à l’OSM dans le Concerto n^o 2 de Prokofiev, une œuvre d’une spectaculaire virtuosité qui fit scandale lors de sa création en 1913. Sous la direction du chef finlandais John Storgårds, l’Orchestre revêtira des couleurs épiques, de l’évocation de la barque de Charon dans L’île des morts de Rachmaninov, au poème symphonique du grand compositeur finlandais Jean Sibelius En saga, qui a inspiré sa compatriote Lotta Wennäkoski l’œuvre Verdigris.

Pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin returns to the OSM to perform Prokofiev’s Concerto no. 2, a work of spectacular bravura that caused a scandal when it was premiered in 1913. Under the baton of Finnish conductor John Storgårds, the Orchestra sets off on epic adventures, from the depiction of Charon’s rowboat in Rachmaninoff’s Isle of the Dead, to Sibelius’ tone poem En saga, the inspiration for the Finnish composer Lotta Wennäkoski’s Verdigris.
