Lorsque Towa Bird a imaginé le titre éponyme de son deuxième album, Gentleman, la chanteuse, compositrice et guitariste de 27 ans a découvert une toute nouvelle façon d’appréhender le monde. A knowing subversion of the old-world archetype, the Hong Kong-born artist’s take on the modern gentleman reimagines the term as an emblem of queer confidence: an exquisite blurring of masculine and feminine, defined by unapologetic swagger and disarming sensitivity. Mother Soki
Animée d’une forte fibre artistique, Mother Soki, musicienne originaire de Minneapolis, a traversé son adolescence et a découvert sa passion pour la production musicale lors de ses études à Chicago. Plongée dans tout ce qu’elle aime, elle a été attirée par les textures oniriques de la synthpop et la nostalgie sonore des années 80 et 90. Puisant son inspiration au quotidien dans son environnement, elle canalise sa créativité à travers des influences classiques : Prince, Joni Mitchell, Cocteau Twins et Madonna. Sa musique mêle des interprétations modernes de synthétiseurs vintage à des guitares puissantes et à une voix aérienne et ample, créant des contrastes inattendus qui, pourtant, fonctionnent à merveille. Mother Soki parvient à créer une harmonie parfaite entre l’inattendu et le naturel.
Carving her way through adolescence with a fierce artistic drive, Minneapolis-based musician Mother Soki discovered her passion for music production while attending college in Chicago. Immersed in everything she loves, she gravitated toward the dreamy textures of synth pop and the sonic nostalgia of the ‘80s & ’90s. Drawing daily inspiration from her surroundings, she channels her creativity through classic influences: Prince, Joni Mitchell, Cocteau Twins & Madonna. Her sound blends modern interpretations of vintage synths with heavy guitars and airy, spacious vocals—creating contrasts that shouldn’t work, but somehow do. Mother Soki makes the unexpected feel seamless.
