DAM
DAM, qui signifie « éternel » en arabe, est le premier groupe de hip-hop palestinien et l’un des premiers à rapper en arabe. Formé à la fin des années 1990, Tamer Nafar, Suhell Nafar et Mahmood Jrere ont voulu raconter leur histoire à travers les rythmes du hip-hop. Le son de DAM est unique. Leur musique est une fusion unique entre l’Orient et l’Occident, mêlant un rap arabe féroce aux rythmes arabes, aux sonorités et mélodies du Moyen-Orient et aux rythmes entraînants du hip-hop urbain.
DAM est connu pour aborder des questions politiques importantes et des tabous sociaux dans ses chansons. Leur chanson « Min Irhabi » (« Qui est le terroriste »), sortie pendant la seconde Intifada et téléchargée plus d’un million de fois sur Internet peu après sa sortie (2001), a fait du groupe une figure emblématique pour les jeunes du Moyen-Orient. La popularité de DAM reste intacte à ce jour. La première sortie de leur troisième album « BEN HAANA WA MAANA » (2019), Emta Njawzak Yamma (« Quand te marieras-tu ? »), qui traite des pressions sociales liées au mariage, a également connu un succès immédiat, atteignant 1,6 million de vues en seulement 6 mois.
DAM s’est formé à la fin des années 1990 lorsque Tamer Nafar, Suhell Nafar et Mahmood Jrere ont eu envie de raconter leur histoire (de Palestiniens vivant en Israël) à travers les rythmes du hip-hop. En 2015, le groupe a sorti son premier single « Who You Are » avec Maysa Daw, qui a ensuite rejoint le groupe hip-hop. DAM s’est produit non seulement dans le monde arabe, mais aussi de plus en plus en Europe et aux États-Unis au cours des 15 dernières années.
DAM, meaning “everlasting” in Arabic, is the first Palestinian hip hop crew and among the first to rap in Arabic. Formed in the late 1990s, Tamer Nafar, Suhell Nafar, and Mahmood Jrere were inspired to tell their story through the rhythms of hip hop. DAM’s sound is unmistakable. Their music is a unique fusion of east and west, blending fierceful Arabic rap with Arabic rhythms, Middle Eastern sounds and melodies, and the pulsating beats of urban hiphop.
DAM is known for addressing important political issues and social taboos in their songs. Their song “Min Irhabi” (“Who is the Terrorist”), which was released during the second Intifada and was downloaded over a million times on the internet shortly after its release (2001), made the band a figure of identification for young people in the Middle East. DAM’s popularity remains unbroken to this day. Their first release of their third album “BEN HAANA WA MAANA” (2019), Emta Njawzak Yamma (“When will you get married?”), which deals with the social pressures of marriage, also became an instant hit, reaching 1.6 million views in just 6 months.

NARCY est un artiste polyvalent basé à Montréal, au Canada. Il rappe, produit, réalise, enseigne, écrit et crée.
De son vrai nom Yassin Alsalman, il est principalement reconnu comme la première voix irakienne de la communauté hip-hop, ayant fait ses preuves pendant la guerre contre sa mère patrie, exprimant la vérité aux puissants du monde entier pendant la période la plus difficile de l’histoire moderne en Irak. Réalisateur primé, professeur d’université reconnu et libraire chez MAKTABA à Montréal, il est également l’un des artistes les plus influents de la scène internationale.
Sa tournée « To Be An (Arab) » est une expérience multimédia qui explore sa discographie et aboutit à son double album éponyme. L’album est disponible uniquement en vinyle et sera disponible lors du concert. Il présente des collaborations avec des artistes de renom tels que Bu Kolthoum, Todd Rundgren, Redveil, Talib Kweli, Dave Chappelle, Mo Amer et bien d’autres.

He is an award winning director, a celebrated University professor and a bookshop owner of MAKTABA in Montreal.
His To Be An (Arab) tour is a multi-media Experience meant to span his discography leading to his present Double album by the same name. The album is only available on vinyl and will be available at the show. It boasts features from greats like Bu Kolthoum, Todd Rundgren, redveil, Talib Kweli, Dave Chappelle, Mo Amer and more.
Muhoza
Muhoza signifie « la consolation » en kinyarwanda, la langue nationale du Rwanda. Né à Montréal d’un père camerounais et d’une mère rwandaise, Déric Muhoza Eloundou a grandi à Ahuntsic dans un milieu précaire. Le rappeur met en lumière cette noirceur dans ses textes pour honorer la force de ceux et celles qui s’y reconnaissent. Ses paroles crues et imagées, portées par une mélodie jazz rap rappelant les années 90, sont interprétées par cinq jeunes musiciens talentueux de la scène underground de Montréal. La majorité d’entre eux se sont rencontrés au cégep de Saint-Laurent. Actif depuis quatre ans, Muhoza a donné plus d’une vingtaine de spectacles à travers le Québec. En concert, il n’a pas froid aux yeux et n’hésite pas à engager la foule à participer avec lui et sa troupe. Sa présence sur scène est une célébration des moments difficiles et une promesse d’espoir.
Muhoza means “consolation” in Kinyarwanda, the national language of Rwanda. Born in Montreal to a Cameroonian father and a Rwandan mother, Déric Muhoza Eloundou grew up in the neighborhood of Ahuntsic in a precarious environment. The rapper sheds light on this darkness through his lyrics, honoring the strength of those who see themselves in it. His raw and vivid words, carried by a jazz-rap melody reminiscent of the ’90s, are performed by five talented young musicians from Montreal’s underground scene, most of whom met at Cégep de Saint-Laurent. Active for four years, Muhoza has played over twenty shows across Quebec. On stage, he’s fearless and eagerly involves the audience in the performance with his crew. His stage presence is both a tribute to difficult times and a promise of hope.
