La Sécurité
La Sécurité (Montréal / Tiohtià:ke) est un collectif d’art punk alliant à parts égales: rythmes sautillants, spectre harmonique accidenté et phrasés mélodiques minimalistes; le tout passé dans un filtre insomniaque, le résultat d’une surexposition aux néons de la métropole québécoise. Sa musique, parfaitement à son aise lorsque dynamitée sur une piste de danse, prêche vivre dangereusement. Les paroles, elles, font écho au mouvement Riot Grrrl, et célèbrent entre autres l’autonomisation de femmes, les ami.e.s (gentil.le.s comme méchant.e.s) et la bienveillance. Depuis ses débuts au printemps 2022, le quintette hétéroclite a reçu des invitations de SXSW, End of the Road, The Great Escape, Reeperbahn, puis du FIJMl, ajoutant des tournées aux côtés de The Go! Team (2024) et The Rapture (2025). Après la sortie du premier album Stay Safe! (16 juin 2023), nommé sur la Longue Liste pour le Prix de musique Polaris 2024, ainsi que son joyeux rejeton Stay Safe! REMIXED (8 mars 2024), tous deux chez Mothland, le quintette a dévoilé les titres “Detour” (22 octobre 2024) et “Ketchup” (28 janvier 2025), préparant le terrain pour un nouvel afflux de joyaux sonores D.I.Y., cette fois-ci collaborant également avec l’étiquette britannique emblématique de Simon Raymonde: Bella Union. La bande se pose à nouveau sur les franges du punk, de la new wave et du krautrock, bafouant sournoisement les formules stylistiques à chaque occasion avec la parution de son deuxième disque Bingo!, prévu le 12 juin 2026 via Bella Union (Monde) et Mothland (Canada/États-Unis).
La Sécurité (Montréal/Tiohtià:ke) is a collective whose art punk is equal parts: jumpy beats, off-kilter arrangements and minimalistic melodic hooks; run through an insomniac filter, the result of excessive exposure to the city’s neon lights. The music is all about living dangerously, perfectly agreeable to being blasted onto dancefloors; while the lyrics share the ethos of the Riot Grrrl movement, and celebrate the autonomization of women, friends (mean and nice) as well as benevolence. Since coming together in the Spring of 2022, they have been invited to perform noteworthy events such as SXSW, End of the Road, The Great Escape, and Reeperbahn, also touring alongside The Go! Team (2024) and The Rapture (2025). Following the release of Polaris Music Prize 2024 long-listed debut Stay Safe!—as well as its joyous offspring Stay Safe! REMIXED—with Mothland, the five-piece offered singles “Detour” and “Ketchup”, setting the stage for a new influx of D.I.Y. sonic gems, this time also teaming up with Simon Raymonde’s seminal British imprint: Bella Union. Hence, the motley bunch continues to meander the fringes of punk, new wave and krautrock, mischievously flouting stylistic form every chance they get by way of sophomore long-player Bingo!, scheduled for release on June 12th, 2026 via Bella Union (World) and Mothland (Canada/United States).
Shunk
Le groupe montréalais Shunk fusionne avec brio une myriade d’influences musicales (post-punk, dreampop, shoegaze, indie pop, opéra) pour créer sa propre palette sonore. Leurs performances live excentriques et électrisantes reflètent la scène musicale montréalaise en constante évolution et audacieuse. La chanteuse Gabrielle incarne avec une grande capacité de nuances, tant physiquement que vocalement, passant de l’opéra aux cris quasi-hardcore en un instant. Le tout est soutenu par une section rythmique impeccable composée d’Adrian et Julia, et par les parties de guitare scintillantes et synthétiques de Peter.
Montreal’s Shunk seamlessly blend a myriad of musical influences (Post-Punk, Dreampop, Shoegaze, lndie Pop, Opera) to form their own specific sonic palette. Their eccentric and electrifying live performances reflect their city’s ever-evolving, boundary-pushing music scene. Vocalist Gabrielle is able to embody multiple personas physically and vocally, singing opera one minute and yelling in borderline hardcore moments the next. This is all grounded by a honed rhythm section consisting of Adrian and Julia, and shimmering, synth inspired guitar parts from Peter.
