Rei is a Māori artist and musician from New Zealand. He is touring in Ontario and Quebec this month of August, in London, Rimouski, Sherbrooke and Toronto. His first date will take place at the First Peoples International Festival (Présence Autochtone) in Montreal, Saturday, August 8th at 9:30 at the Place des Festivals.
Rei is mixing Māori traditions and Haka dance with hip-hop and electronics, the Māori language, English, politics, and fun. PAN M 360 writer Michel Labrecque talked with Rei about his musical purpose and history.
