Brown Family | Greg Beaudin Talks About the 3rd Album, Durags and Broken Hearts

Interview by Alain Brunet
Genres and styles : Dancehall / Hip Hop / Roots Reggae / Soul/R&B

Additional Information

Since 2016, Greg Beaudin (Snailkid with Dead Obies) and his brother Jam (K6A, Jam P and Dox) have been reunited with their father Robin Kerr, an authentic Rasta crooner transplanted to Quebec to start a family with his native mom. The sons have taken to hip-hop and R&B, while the father has remained faithful to dancehall and roots reggae, but the two generations share a common ground in the Brown Family. With the release of their 3rd album on Disques7ième Ciel, father and sons merge the legacies of their respective generations better than ever on the 10 tracks of this fresh opus. Greg Beaudin talks to Alain Brunet about Durags et cœurs brisés, a title that recalls his half-Jamaican origins by evoking durag, the fabric used as headgear by rastas and Afrodescendants wishing to confine their dreads when necessary.
