TOP PROGRAMMERS: TOP 3 ALBUMS 2023 – Daniel K Seligman, Pop Montréal

· by Rédaction PAN M 360

PAN M 360 asked its partners to provide a list of the top 3 albums of 2023. Several artistic directors graciously agreed!

Since its inception by Daniel Seligman, Noelle Sorbara, and Peter Rowan in 2002, Pop Montréal has become one of the leading pools of musical discovery for Montreal fans. The autumn festival has presented major concerts in all forms of popular music: rock, indie rock, post rock, alternative rock, hip hop, soul, R&B, easy listening, electronica, noise, folk, avant-folk, avant-pop, vintage pop from North America and Europe. Originally from the Toronto area, Dan Seligman came to Montreal to study theology, settled here and made it his home. As Pop Montreal’s excellent creative director, Dan has introduced us to and reintroduced us to some fantastic artists, many of whom deserve more attention. He remains one of the creative forces that make Montreal so special.

Murray Lightburn / Once Upon A Time in Montreal / Dangerbird Records (indie pop)

“A beautiful, quintessential Montreal album for aging hipsters and middle-aged people facing mortality, loss and the nostalgia of youth. I cry listening to it. Lightburn at the top of his game.”

Andre 3000 / New Blue Sun / Epic Records (new age, soul, jazz)

“André 3000 is a pop icon and has produced a perfectly accessible new age album. Smoke a joint, cook some soup, clean your kitchen and relax.”

Nico Paulo / Nico Paulo / Forward Music Group (indie pop, chanson)

“The Portuguese-Canadian singer has written songs of dreamy orchestral folk and great beauty.”
