La contralto italienne Sonia Prina a fait ses débuts à La Scala en 1998 à l’âge de 23 ans dans le rôle de Rosine aux côtés d’un jeune Juan Diego Florez. Reconnue pour sa voix à la fois grave et agile, elle s‘oriente rapidement vers le répertoire baroque. Appréciant particulièrement l’œuvre de Haendel, elle a incarné plusieurs personnages emblématiques de ses opéras comme, Bradamante (Alcina), Polinesso (Ariodante), Bertarido (Rodelinda) et le rôle-titre dans Giulio Cesare. Également à l’aise dans le répertoire romantique et post-romantique, elle s’est notamment distinguée dans le rôle de Mistress Quickly dans Falstaff de Verdi. À la fois ensemble instrumental et institution artistique, l’Accademia de’ Dissonanti, fondé en 2020 par la violoncelliste et gambiste Elinor Frey présente des concerts, des activités éducatives ainsi que des publications axées sur l’interprétation historiquement informée et la recherche-création.
Italian contralto Sonia Prina made her La Scala debut in 1998 at the age of 23 in the role of Rosine, alongside a young Juan Diego Florez. Renowned for her deep, agile voice, she soon turned to the Baroque repertoire. Particularly fond of Handel’s work, she has embodied several emblematic characters from his operas, including Bradamante (Alcina), Polinesso (Ariodante), Bertarido (Rodelinda) and the title role in Giulio Cesare. Equally at home in the Romantic and post-romantic repertoire, she distinguished herself as Mistress Quickly in Verdi’s Falstaff. Both an instrumental ensemble and an artistic institution, the Accademia de’ Dissonanti, founded in 2020 by cellist and gambist Elinor Frey, presents concerts, educational activities and publications focusing on historically informed interpretation and research-creation.
