Porté par des harmonies vocales captivantes, des percussions vibrantes et des arrangements à la fois raffinés et intenses, l’ensemble trace une musique lumineuse, profondément tournée vers l’humain. Fondé en 2016 par Chloé Lacasse (clavier, guitare, voix), Geneviève Toupin (guitare, clavier, accordéon, voix) et Vincent Carré (batterie, percussions), Chances puise dans ses racines francophones, anglophones et métissées pour façonner une identité musicale unique en son genre. Entre textures organiques et sonorités électroniques, le trio célèbre la diversité culturelle et la force du collectif à travers une musique sensible et innovante.

Riding the momentum of its new album, And Now You Become a Seeker, in which folk and electronic music come together with boldness and subtlety, the band Chances stops at the Palais Montcalm to present an immersive performance, with the audience surrounding the musicians. Driven by captivating vocal harmonies, vibrant percussion, and arrangements that are both refined and intense, the group crafts a luminous music deeply centered on the human experience. Founded in 2016 by Chloé Lacasse (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Geneviève Toupin (guitar, keyboards, accordion, vocals), and Vincent Carré (drums, percussion), Chances draws on its Francophone, Anglophone, and mixed cultural roots to shape a musical identity unlike any other. Blending organic textures with electronic soundscapes, the trio celebrates cultural diversity and the power of collective creativity through sensitive and innovative music.

Les Violons du Roy : Handel, Dixit Dominus à la salle Raoul-Jobin

Un rendez-vous avec le sublime Dixit Dominus de Handel dont la virtuosité vocale et la puissance de l’expression musicale en font l’une des plus grandes réussites chorales du compositeur.
Le motet Jesu, meine Freude de Bach appartient lui aussi au plus beau répertoire sacré de toute l’époque baroque. En ouverture, un bref et très poignant motet du prédécesseur de Bach à l’église Saint-Thomas de Leipzig.

A meeting with the sublime Dixit Dominus by Handel, a work of remarkable vocal virtuosity and expressive power, making it one of the composer’s greatest choral masterpieces.
Bach’s motet Jesu, meine Freude also belongs to the finest sacred repertoire of the entire Baroque era. Opening the program is a brief yet deeply moving motet by Bach’s predecessor at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig.

Les Violons du Roy : Souvenir de Florence à la salle Raoul-Jobin

L’une des pages les plus personnelles de Tchaïkovski donne son titre à ce concert qui promet un voyage dépaysant et sensible, aux trajectoires à la fois géographiques et à celles, plus intimes, de la mémoire et des impressions profondes. Le périple comprendra une escale proposée par la compositrice Barbara Assiginaak à l’intention de la flûtiste Ariane Brisson qui en assurera la création.

One of Tchaikovsky’s most personal works lends its name to this concert, promising a transporting and deeply felt journey that spans both geographical routes and more intimate paths of memory and profound impressions. Our voyage also includes a new piece by composer Barbara Assiginaak, written for flutist Ariane Brisson, who will be performing its premiere.

¡Cubanismo! vient partager ses rythmes chauds pour la toute première fois à Québec. Avec ses cuivres entraînants, ses brillantes harmonies et ses impressionnantes polyrythmies, la troupe du trompettiste Jesús Alemañy est reconnue comme l’une des meilleures de la musique cubaine, naviguant entre mambo, salsa, chachachá, danzon, bolero, rumba, son ou jazz latin avec le même bonheur. Jesús Alemañy qui, selon The Village Voice, a « la prestance d’un Miles Davis ainsi que la fluidité précise et funky de Fats Navarro », s’est d’abord fait connaître au sein du mythique groupe Sierra Maestra alors qu’il n’avait que 15 ans. Avec ¡Cubanismo!, il a signé sept albums et a tourné dans plus de 50 pays, s’arrêtant dans les festivals les plus prestigieux du monde.

¡Cubanismo! is bringing its fiery rhythms to Quebec City for the very first time. With its driving brass section, brilliant harmonies, and impressive polyrhythms, the ensemble led by trumpeter Jesús Alemañy is recognized as one of the finest groups in Cuban music, moving effortlessly between mambo, salsa, cha-cha-cha, danzón, bolero, rumba, son, and Latin jazz. Alemañy, who, according to The Village Voice, has “the presence of a Miles Davis and the precise, funky fluidity of Fats Navarro”, first made a name for himself with the legendary group Sierra Maestra at just 15 years old. With ¡Cubanismo!, he has released seven albums and toured more than 50 countries, appearing at many of the world’s most prestigious festivals.

Suite à son succès à Carnegie Hall en 2024, la violoniste Isabella d’Éloize Perron entame sa première tournée européenne, qui l’amènera à Paris, Bordeaux, Vienne, Prague, et Berlin. La flamboyante virtuose ne manquera pas d’impressionner lors d’une nouvelle série de concerts passionnants. Interprété par l’Orchestre FILMharmonique sous la direction de Francis Choinière, Les Quatre Saisons de Vivaldi sera porté par un souffle de jeunesse, alors que Les Quatre Saisons de Buenos Aires, signé Astor Piazzolla, nous plongera dans l’univers sensuel du tango argentin. Aussi en primeur pour cette tournée sera la première mondiale de Les Quatre Saisons du Québec du célèbre compositeur François Dompierre.

Dan Thouin Trio – Joyeux Noël, Charlie Brown! à la salle Raoul-Jobin

Le Dan Thouin Trio et la Maîtrise des Petits Chanteurs de Québec se réunissent de nouveau afin de célébrer Noël avec les pièces de l’album A Charlie Brown Christmas, du célèbre pianiste jazz américain Vince Guaraldi. Une soirée magique en vue, où Thouin, au piano, sera accompagné par Morgan Moore (contrebasse) et Louis-Vincent Hamel (batterie). Cet enregistrement, paru en 1965, et dont la popularité ne se dément pas, est considéré comme l’un des meilleurs albums de Noël de tous les temps, en plus d’avoir fait découvrir le jazz à une toute nouvelle génération. Aux pièces de A Charlie Brown Christmas s’ajouteront quelques classiques du temps des fêtes, orchestrés à la manière de Vince Guaraldi.

The Dan Thouin Trio and the Maîtrise des Petits Chanteurs de Québec are coming together once again to celebrate Christmas with the pieces from A Charlie Brown Christmas, by the famous American jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi. A magical evening awaits, with Thouin on piano, accompanied by Morgan Moore (double bass) and Louis-Vincent Hamel (drums). Released in 1965, this recording remains immensely popular and is considered one of the greatest Christmas albums of all time, while also introducing jazz to an entirely new generation. In addition to the pieces from A Charlie Brown Christmas, the program will feature a selection of holiday classics arranged in Vince Guaraldi’s signature style.

Tableaux Musique est un voyage exaltant, tout en sons et en images. Un petit castelet donne vie aux péripéties des marionnettes, animées par deux musiciennes. À travers des univers variés comme le désert de sable chaud, les fonds aquatiques, la forêt tropicale ou les sols enneigés, les tout petits naviguent entre rêve et réalité. À leur façon, les enfants voyagent tour à tour dans les aventures et les souvenirs des personnages. Munies d’une variété d’instruments, de tableaux et d’objets, les artistes construisent et déconstruisent chaque décor sonore et visuel sous les yeux des petits.

Tableaux Musique is an exhilarating journey of sound and images. A small puppet stage brings the adventures of marionettes to life, animated by two musicians. Through a variety of worlds, such as a warm sandy desert, underwater depths, a tropical forest, or snow-covered landscapes, young children drift between dream and reality. In their own way, children travel through the adventures and memories of the characters. Equipped with a wide range of instruments, visual tableaux, and objects, the performers build and dismantle each soundscape and visual setting right before the eyes of the little ones.

Nicolas Ferron Trio – Multiverse à la salle d’Youville

L’orgue B3 et l’amplificateur Leslie du Palais Montcalm seront à l’honneur dans ce nouveau projet du Nicolas Ferron Trio qui emprunte autant au jazz qu’au rock. Ferron (guitare), Jonathan Cayer (orgue B3) et Louis-Vincent Hamel (batterie) créent une musique contrastée où les atmosphères éthérées s’enchaînent avec des grooves énergiques et exaltants. Profondément enraciné dans le jazz, Multiverse est aussi influencé par la musique de film et par les envolées psychédéliques de la fin des années soixante. Les trois musiciens, avec un plaisir contagieux, explorent les possibilités de cette instrumentation atypique et s’envolent volontiers dans des improvisations débridées.

The B3 organ and Leslie amplifier of Palais Montcalm take center stage in this new project by the Nicolas Ferron Trio, which draws as much from jazz as from rock. Ferron (guitar), Jonathan Cayer (B3 organ), and Louis-Vincent Hamel (drums) create a richly contrasted musical landscape, where ethereal atmospheres flow seamlessly into energetic, exhilarating grooves. Deeply rooted in jazz, Multiverse is also influenced by film music and the psychedelic flights of the late 1960s. With contagious enthusiasm, the three musicians explore the possibilities of this unconventional instrumentation, readily launching into bold, free-spirited improvisations.

Cameron Carpenter met en musique Le Fantôme de l’Opéra à la salle Raoul-Jobin

Le Palais Montcalm vous convie à un concert d’exception, où cinéma et grand orgue seront à l’honneur. Le virtuose Cameron Carpenter offrira sa propre trame sonore du film Le Fantôme de l’opéra. Cette œuvre mythique du cinéma muet, inspirée du roman de Gaston Leroux, sera ainsi projetée dans sa version restaurée, avec sous-titres français, et aura droit à un nouveau souffle, grâce au jeu exceptionnel de Carpenter. Né en Pennsylvanie, en 1981, Cameron Carpenter savait déjà interpréter le Clavier bien tempéré de Bach, à l’orgue, du haut de ses onze ans. Il a par la suite non seulement développé une maîtrise et une virtuosité éblouissantes à l’instrument, mais un savoir-faire indéniable de compositeur et d’arrangeur. En 2012, soit un an après avoir présenté son Concerto pour orgue et orchestre en Allemagne, il a obtenu le prix Leonard Bernstein au Schleswig-Holstein Festival. Carpenter a été artiste en résidence au Konzerthaus de Berlin durant la saison 2017–2018, où il a transcrit plus d’une centaine d’œuvres pour orgue, dont la Cinquième symphonie de Mahler. En 2014, il a mis sur pied son International Touring Organ (ITO), un orgue numérique fait sur mesure, qu’il a apporté sur les plus grandes scènes du monde. La pandémie de Covid-19 a mis un frein à ses activités qu’en partie, puisqu’il a joué pour les aînés en confinement, mettant son orgue derrière un camion le temps de 32 concerts sous la devise « All you need is Bach! ». En 2024, c’est en sa compagnie que le Palais Montcalm a célébré les 10 ans du grand orgue, avec un concert mémorable où il notamment interprété les Variations Goldberg et Tableaux d’une exposition.

Palais Montcalm invites you to an exceptional concert where cinema and the grand organ take center stage. Virtuoso Cameron Carpenter will present his own original score to the film The Phantom of the Opera. This iconic work of silent cinema, inspired by the novel by Gaston Leroux, will be screened in its restored version with French subtitles and given new life through Carpenter’s extraordinary playing. Born in Pennsylvania in 1981, Cameron Carpenter was already performing Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier on the organ at the age of eleven. He went on to develop not only dazzling mastery and virtuosity at the instrument, but also undeniable skill as a composer and arranger. In 2012, one year after premiering his Concerto for Organ and Orchestra in Germany, he received the Leonard Bernstein Award at the Schleswig-Holstein Festival. Carpenter served as artist-in-residence at the Konzerthaus Berlin during the 2017–2018 season, where he transcribed more than one hundred works for organ, including Mahler’s Fifth Symphony. In 2014, he created his International Touring Organ (ITO), a custom-built digital organ that he has brought to the world’s greatest stages. The Covid-19 pandemic only partially slowed his activities: he performed for seniors in lockdown, placing his organ on the back of a truck for 32 concerts under the motto “All you need is Bach!” In 2024, Palais Montcalm celebrated the 10th anniversary of its grand organ in his company, with a memorable concert featuring, among other works, the Goldberg Variations and Pictures at an Exhibition.

Rébecca Veilleux au Chez Madame Belley

Mezzo-soprano des plus douées, Rébecca Veilleux a pris part à plus de quinze productions de l’Opéra de Québec et de l’Orchestre symphonique de Québec. Elle s’est récemment illustrée comme soliste avec Les Violons du Roy et le Quintette Pentaèdre et comme finaliste à l’Accademia per cantanti lirici della Fondazione Teatro di San Carlo de Naples. Celle qui, en 2025, a incarné Dorabella dans Così fan tutte au Théâtre Le Diamant fait sa première halte Chez Madame Belley pour une performance opératique comme on en n’a jamais entendu dans cette salle!

One of the most gifted mezzo-sopranos of her generation, Rébecca Veilleux has taken part in more than fifteen productions with Opéra de Québec and the Quebec Symphony Orchestra. She has recently distinguished herself as a soloist with Les Violons du Roy and the Pentaèdre Wind Quintet, and as a finalist at the Accademia per Cantanti Lirici of the Fondazione Teatro di San Carlo in Naples. Having portrayed Dorabella in Così fan tutte at Théâtre Le Diamant in 2025, she now makes her first appearance Chez Madame Belley for an operatic performance unlike anything ever heard in this venue.
