Créateur de contenu aux multiples facettes, Alex Warren a quitté l’univers des réseaux sociaux pour se rendre en studio et présenter sa pop passionnée, d’auteur-compositeur-interprète. Warren a d’abord attiré l’attention avec ses vidéos de skate sur YouTube, avant de se spécialiser dans la comédie et le vlogging. En 2021, il se lance dans la musique, créant des chansons pop sensibles, vibrantes et confessions personnelles. Son style, vaguement similaire à celui de chanteurs-compositeurs électro comme Jack Garratt, mêle des mélodies sincères à des couches d’électronique éthérée, un écrin sonore qui lui permet de traiter le traumatisme de la perte de ses deux parents à un âge précoce. Originaire de Californie, il se classe à l’international début 2024 avec la chanson émotive Before You Leave Me, suivie quelques mois plus tard par Save You a Seat, la chanson entraînante Carry You Home et son entrée dans le Billboard Hot 100 avec Burning Down. A content creator who spans every imaginable outlet, Alex Warren stepped out from behind the phone and into the recording studio to introduce his passionate singer/songwriter pop. Warren first gained attention for his skateboarding videos on YouTube, and soon specialized in comedy and vlogging. By 2021, he’d branched out into music, crafting quivering, sensitive, confessional pop tunes. Sounding vaguely reminiscent of such electronic-inflected singer/songwriters like Jack Garratt, Alex Warren slathers his open-hearted melodies with layers of gossamer electronics, the glossy bed providing Warren with an avenue to process the trauma of losing both of his parents at an early age. The California native charted abroad in early 2024 with the emotional « Before You Leave Me, » followed a few months later by « Save You a Seat, » the foot-stomping « Carry You Home, » and his Billboard Hot 100 debut, « Burning Down. » All four songs appeared on his full-length debut, You’ll Be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1), which charted internationally while reaching the top half of the Billboard 200 before the end of the year.

Lorsque grentperez remporte un prix APRA en 2024 dans son Australie natale pour Auteur-compositeur émergent de l’année, c’est l’aboutissement naturel de tout ce qu’il avait accompli jusque-là. Avant même la sortie de son premier single, Cherry Wine, en 2021, il séduisait déjà des fans de son âge grâce aux reprises variées qu’il publiait en ligne. Par la suite, il a su prouver son talent en écrivant et en interprétant des chansons qui ont su toucher ce public.

When grentperez earned an APRA Award in 2024 in his native Australia for Emerging Songwriter of the Year, it was more of a culmination of all the musician had done thus far. Even before the release of debut single “Cherry Wine” in 2021, he’d been winning over fans his own age with diverse covers he’d upload online; afterward, he’d prove his ability to create (and sing) songs those listeners would want to hear as well.

Le groupe de rock anglais Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs (ou PIGSx7) mêle acid rock, psych-metal et influences doom et stoner dans un épais déluge de riffs et de hurlements menaçants. Évoquant une rencontre entre Black Sabbath et Hawkwind sous l’effet d’hallucinogènes particulièrement virulents, PIGSx7 déploie un son massif et percutant, laissant place à l’expérimentation sonore et à des riffs de guitare titanesques, bien que l’écrasante lourdeur de leur musique domine l’ensemble. Sur leur premier album, Feed the Rats (2017), le groupe s’appuyait sur de longues compositions (deux des trois morceaux dépassent les 15 minutes). Avec Viscerals (2020) et Land of Sleeper (2023), leurs titres se sont resserrés, mais la puissance brutale de leur musique est restée intacte, pour le plus grand plaisir des fans.

English rock outfit Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs (or « PIGSx7 » for short) combine acid rock, psych-metal, and doom and stoner influences into a thick sludge of riffs and menacing bellows. Suggesting a meeting of the minds between Black Sabbath and Hawkwind under the influence of especially nasty hallucinogens, PIGSx7 generate a burly, hard-hitting sound that makes room for sonic experimentation and gargantuan guitar riffs, though the overwhelming heaviness of their sound is what rules the day. On their debut album, 2017’s Feed the Rats, the group built their music around lengthy performances (two of the set’s three tracks run over 15 minutes). By the time they cut 2020’s Viscerals and 2023’s Land of Sleeper, the songs were more compact, but the aggressive stomp of the band was still as brutal as fans could wish.

Malgré leur existence relativement brève, Sunny Day Real Estate ont connu suffisamment de rebondissements dramatiques pour rivaliser avec les plus grandes sagas du rock. Considering their relatively brief existence, Sunny Day Real Estate racked up enough dramatic twists and turns to rank with some of the great rock soap operas. Their key members engaged in just about every rock cliché imaginable, including finding religion, refusing to work with the media, breaking up, joining a big-name group, and even recording an ambitious full-orchestra pop album — all before reuniting in 1997.

With their organic but richly atmospheric sound, Los Angeles alternative rock band Silversun Pickups helped put the über-hip Silver Lake scene on the map with their critical and commercial success in the 21st century. Matt Maltese’s searching, chamber pop-leaning songs are steeped in the melodicism and whimsicality of ’60s psych-pop but also very much of their own time. Making his debut with the piano ballad « Even If It’s a Lie (Demo) » as a teenager in 2015, many of his lyrics are mired in feelings of the isolation and futility associated with the unfolding era. Referring to his own music as « Brexit pop, » his first album, 2018’s Bad Contestant, doubled as his major-label debut. Now or Nowhere is the third album by The Damn Truth, a band that, in many ways, has been hiding in plain sight for the last nine years. They’ve played Europe and crisscrossed the USA and Canada, opened tours for ZZ Top (and partied with Billy Gibbons in his pyjamas), the Sheepdogs, Styx and Rival Sons, sold out the legendary Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles, sold out the Corona Theatre in their hometown of Montreal, and even had one of their videos featured on the official Janis Joplin Facebook page. It’s a lineage of hard work that’s come to fruition with Now or Nowhere.

Jan Blomqvist à la SAT

Le chanteur, auteur-compositeur et leader de groupe basé à Berlin, Jan Blomqvist, fusionne une tech-house complexe et taillée pour les clubs avec une pop mélodieuse et mélancolique. Ses morceaux se caractérisent par des rythmes minimalistes mais entraînants, une production détaillée et des voix empreintes de nostalgie rappelant Thom Yorke. Il collabore souvent avec le pianiste Felix Lehmann et le batteur Christian Dammann, ainsi qu’avec le parolier Ryan Mathiesen.
Blomqvist a commencé à chanter et à jouer de la guitare dès son plus jeune âge, avant de découvrir la techno à 21 ans, ce qui l’a poussé à poursuivre une carrière musicale. Il passait ses nuits à travailler comme barman en club tout en produisant ses morceaux, développant son mélange unique de techno minimale et d’écriture pop.
En 2011, il sort deux singles sur le label Dantze de Philip Bader, dont une reprise de Big Jet Plane d’Angus & Julia Stone, et donne son premier concert en festival. Début 2012, il chante sur The Devil in Me d’Oliver Koletzki. Peu après, le label Stil Vor Talent de Koletzki publie son EP Ink.
Au cours des trois années suivantes, Blomqvist joue plus de 300 concerts à travers le monde et sort plusieurs singles, menant à la sortie de son premier album Remote Control chez Armada en 2016. Après une compilation de remixes, il publie le single Winter Roads sur le label Days Like Nights en 2017.

Berlin-based singer, songwriter, and bandleader Jan Blomqvist merges intricate, club-friendly tech-house with tuneful, melancholic pop. His songs are filled with minimal yet propulsive beats, detailed production, and yearning vocals recalling Thom Yorke. He often performs and records with pianist Felix Lehmann and drummer Christian Dammann, in addition to writing with lyricist Ryan Mathiesen.
Blomqvist began singing and playing guitar as a youth, and got into techno at the age of 21, after which he decided to pursue music as a career. He spent his nights working as a bartender at a club and making tracks, developing his blend of minimal techno and pop songwriting.
In 2011, he released two singles on Philip Bader’s Dantze label, including an interpretation of Angus & Julia Stone’s « Big Jet Plane, » and performed his first festival gig. In early 2012, he sang on Oliver Koletzki’s « The Devil in Me. » Soon after, Koletzki’s Stil Vor Talent label released Blomqvist’s Ink EP. During the next three years, Blomqvist played over 300 gigs throughout the world, and released a handful of additional singles, leading up to Remote Control, his debut full-length, which was issued by Armada in 2016. Following a remix collection, the single « Winter Roads » was issued by Days Like Nights in 2017.
