Under the pseudonym El Guincho, the Spaniard Pablo Díaz-Reixa concocted in 2010 a most effervescent electronic pop, a kind of extension of Latin msuic, distinct from the compositional approaches put forward by visionary artists such as Animal Collective. These pop songs were conceived in the spirit of the digital arts while integrating acoustic and electric instruments. Apart from the synthetic influxes and international pop flavours, Pop Negro also boasts a bold streak of Latin American, Afro-Caribbean and Spanish styles. Invigorating!
