Eight editions of the Opér’actuel event later, the contemporary opera company Chants Libres is transforming its event into a larger biennial festival. Less often, but bigger, then. The first edition will take place from September 21 to 26, 2026. On the agenda, creations, of course, but also discussions, a professional market, and other activities quite original aimed at rooting avant-garde opera in contemporary creativity, at the intersection of theatre, dance, and new media. I met with the Artistic Director Marie-Annick Béliveau to discuss it.
