A decade earlier, the Molinari Quartet presented the complete cycle of Dmitri Shostakovich’s 15 string quartets, the most famous composed in the 20th century. In the spring of 2025, the 50th anniversary of the great Russian composer’s death, a last-minute cancellation forced the Montreal ensemble to postpone this marathon in a new configuration with the arrival of violist Cynthia Blanchon in the Molinari Quartet, alongside cellist Pierre-Alain Bouvrette, violinist Antoine Bareil, and artistic director and first violin Olga Ranzenhofer, who shares with us here all her excitement before the execution of this colossal task.
