Additional Information
Elle Barbara combines performance art, dance, theatre, and music, diffracting the current context through her lens as a trans artist and a key figure in Montreal’s underground scene. Presented at Théâtre Outremont, this unique evening on Friday, May 22nd, marks Elle Barbara’s triumphant return to the stage, following the release of her recently published work, Word On The Street. A One Man Show, a purely self-produced work like the album that forms its core, is the banner of this transdisciplinary event, a performance where mainstream pop rubs shoulders with the strangest contours of the avant-garde, as well as a critical stance: a rejection of gender, racial, and consumerist biases, a denunciation of the material poverty faced by creative minds, and an invitation to find substance through celebration and entertainment. For PAN M 360, Elle Barbara explains the ins and outs of this project in this interview conducted by Alain Brunet.
