A few months after the release of the EP These Elements, the young British singer Holly Lapsley Fletcher is back with Through Water, a new electro-pop album that she produced mostly by herself, and to which she added two tracks from her EP, “My Love Was Like the Rain” and “Ligne 3”. These additions fit seamlessly into the aesthetics of the album, whose lyrics address environmental concerns, a break-up she went through, and self-acceptance. From the narration of the first track “Through Water”, Låpsley announces the new stylistic avenues she will explore throughout the album, varying between dance (“Womxn”), reggae (“First”) and ambient (“Leeds Liverpool Canal”). These explorations in no way compromise the refined aesthetic signature that we appreciate so much in her, created from keyboard chords, her unique voice timbre and the effects she adds to it, without forgetting the rhythmic sequences with chosen tonalities that constantly renew the pleasure of listening.
