Rooted in Brazilian jazz-pop, Galamba’s music (André by his first name) evokes good times one can have with Caetano Veloso or Milton Nascimento, at least in their jazz-rock fusion aspirations. Here, the guitarist Galamba explores the heterogeneous heritage of the genres mentioned above, but with an anchoring in the terroir of northeastern Brazil, more precisely the region of Recife. References to the city’s carnival energy, and its frevo rhythm, which is a UNESCO World Heritage, can be felt through the sparkling arrangements that allow Galamba’s numerous and excellent guests to shine: David Ryshpan on keyboards, Lara Klaus on percussion, Sasha Daoud on drums, Bianca Rocha on beautiful airy vocals, and Manoel Vieira on wurlitzer.
This self-titled album is like a last breath of summer before the arrival of autumn.
The launch of Galamba will take place on September 30, 2025, at 8 PM at Verre Bouteille in Montreal.
