It’s hard to get more exciting than Ennio Morricone’s music. But let’s say that if you add the Montreal Guitar Trio (MG3) into the equation, with arrangements that do not reduce the emotional scope of the themes, you will have reached an impressive level of chills. The three desperados of the six-string who form this now well-established band called MG3 (Sébastien Deshaies, Glenn Lévesque and Marc Morin) had fun building the program and as a result, they also pleased us. A lot. They’re almost all there, the imperishable melodies that we expect every time the name Morricone resonates. And, watch out, they have a lot of sonic substance! The three guys don’t just play their instruments, they also do backing vocals, whistle and add a harmonica in the famous theme from Once Upon a Time in the West. It’s perfect, and it will certainly be on many album of the year lists in 2025.
