« J’ai travaillé pour presque tous les cirques québécois à l’international et j’ai trouvé qu’il manquait quelque chose, les acrobaties africaines me manquaient. J’ai donc voulu monter un spectacle qui parlait de mon pays d’origine qui est la Guinée », explique Yamoussa Bangoura, fondateur de la troupe (RFI, 2022). Afrique en cirque, qui revient d’une tournée internationale, est un condensé rafraîchissant et hyper énergisant de l’immense talent artistique qu’abrite l’Afrique de l’Ouest. Exploits acrobatiques, explosifs, chorégraphies agiles et athlétiques, percussions palpitantes, kora authentique, tableaux qui se succèdent dans un rythme effréné… Le spectacle fédère le théâtre, la musique, la danse et les arts du cirque.
L’Afrique en Cirque with Kalabanté
As the troupe’s founder explained, “I’ve worked with almost every Québec circus internationally and I felt that something was missing, I yearned for the African style of acrobatics. So, I wanted to create a show that reflected my country of origin, which is to say Guinea” (RFI, 2022). Afrique en cirque, returning from an international tour, is a refreshing and superbly energizing showcase of West Africa’s immense talent. Explosive acrobatics, choreographies displaying powerful athletic prowess, thundering percussions and rhythmic kora music, scene upon scene in rapid succession… their shows are a combination of theatre, music, dance and circus arts.
