Dans les années entourant le grand bouleversement, le compositeur français d’adoption Henri-Joseph Rigel établit une réputation enviable en offrant au public parisien des œuvres qui lui valent la faveur de cet auditoire exigeant. Au programme : musique de chambre, concertos, et extraits d’opéras qui révèlent tout le lyrisme et la fougue de ce compositeur encore méconnu. À cette occasion, nous accueillerons de nouveau l’incandescente soprano Magali Simard-Galdès et le brillant ténor Nicholas Scott, en plus de recevoir Mélisande McNabney, étoile montante du clavecin et du pianoforte sur la scène canadienne.
Arion presents fascinating works from the years surrounding the French Revolution. During those few decades, the French-naturalized composer Henri-Joseph Rigel established a well-deserved reputation, writing works that garnered praise from demanding Parisian audiences. His chamber music, concertos, and opera excerpts on the program will reveal all the lyricism and spirit this lesser-known composer has to offer. For the occasion, we once again welcome the sparkling presence of soprano Magali Simard-Galdès and the brilliant tenor Nicholas Scott, in addition to rising-star Canadian harpsichordist and fortepianist Mélisande McNabney.
