Étienne Fletcher
De la tragédie du dernier Kauai O’o, ayant chanté jusqu’à périr, seul survivant de son espèce, pour une congénère jamais venue, Étienne Fletcher a puisé l’inspiration d’un second album, ni EP, ni LP, Kauai O’o, dans l’entre-deux, comme son triste homonyme. Avec toujours ces douces égratignures dans la voix, sur des arrangements de l’éclat du plus brillant plumage, il y chante avec philosophie les grands vents que doivent affronter les minorités, criant de [sa] vérité.

Laura Niquay est une force tranquille de la musique québécoise contemporaine, une bâtisseuse, de celles qui « unissent » en jetant des ponts. Après son grandiose Waska Matisiwin, à maintes reprises salué et qui a révélé sa voix profonde et rauque au plus grand nombre, elle réitère avec Nir Washtenma (Moi, lumière). Une collection de titres forts, puissants, rock, portés sur scène par trois des femmes de tête du genre au Québec, musiciennes aguerries, Raphaëlle Chouinard et Sarah Dion (Les Shirley) et Marie-Philippe Thibault-Desbiens (Princesses).
Laura Niquay is a quiet force in contemporary Québécois music, a builder of bridges, one of those who “bring people together.” After her magnificent Waska Matisiwin, repeatedly praised and which revealed her deep, husky voice to a wide audience, she returns with Nir Washtenma (Moi, lumière). A collection of powerful, rock-driven songs, performed on stage by three leading women in the Québec music scene—seasoned musicians Raphaëlle Chouinard and Sarah Dion (Les Shirley), and Marie-Philippe Thibault-Desbiens (Princesses).
