APACALDA est le projet de la chanteuse, compositrice et productrice montréalaise Cassandra Angheluta, qui utilise la musique pour exprimer ce qui ne se dit pas toujours à voix haute. Ancrée dans une pop alternative aux teintes gothiques, elle développe un son fluide et atmosphérique, à la fois intense et sans compromis. Son premier album, There’s a Shadow in My Room and It Isn’t Mine (13 juin 2025), a été réalisé en collaboration avec Mishka Stein (Patrick Watson) et Samuel Woywitka, reconnu pour son travail primé avec Half Moon Run, avec la participation de Christophe Lamarche (Charlotte Cardin) et Dayhills. L’album a été salué par The Line of Best Fit, Billboard Canada, RANGE Magazine, Pan M 360, Le Canal Auditif, entre autres, et s’est retrouvé sur plusieurs playlists éditoriales. En 2025, APACALDA a assuré les premières parties de Sheenah Ko, Kandle Osborne et Meggie Lennon, présentant un spectacle immersif sur des scènes à travers le Québec et l’Ontario.
Montreal’s APACALDA is the moniker of songwriter, vocalist, and producer Cassandra Angheluta, who uses music to process what can’t always be said out loud. Building from a foundation of goth-tinged alternative pop, APACALDA shapes a genre-fluid sound that’s both atmospheric and unflinching. Her debut album, There’s a Shadow in My Room and It Isn’t Mine (June 13, 2025), was produced in collaboration with Mishka Stein (Patrick Watson) and Samuel Woywitka, known for his award-winning work with Half Moon Run and features additional collaborations from Christophe Lamarche (Charlotte Cardin) and Dayhills. L’univers chatoyant de l’artiste montréalaise Meggie Lennon est un délicat canevas d’indie pop éthérée et de soft rock voluptueux, un appel à la rêverie, à la douceur et à la sensualité. Les chansons de cette auteure-compositrice-interprète abordent, avec maturité, l’amour, les désirs libérés, la découverte de soi, la résilience et les complexités de la vie moderne. Louder than War note que son premier album – Sounds from Your Lips (Mothland, 2021) – « fusionne le psychédélisme des années 60 et du début des années 70 pour créer une ambiance indie dream pop », ajoutant également : « Les chansons parlent de désir et de péchés mignons, tout en exprimant une vision mature de l’amour à une époque où la romance est insaisissable et fragile. De temps en temps, c’est un peu épicé aussi ». Le deuxième album de Meggie Lennon, Desire Days, est paru le 20 juin 2025, toujours sur l’étiquette Mothland. Le long jeu réalisé avec Samuel Gemme met en vedette des musicien.ne.s de groupes renommés tels que Patrick Watson, Teke::Teke, Chocolat et The Besnard Lakes, de même que le Quatuor Esca sur des arrangements d’Antoine Gratton, promettant ainsi un nouveau chapitre dans l’évolution de la sonorité et de la vision de l’artiste montréalaise.
The shimmering world of Montréal artist Meggie Lennon is a delicate canvas of ethereal indie pop and lush soft rock, inviting the listener into a space of reverie, gentleness and introspection. The singer-songwriter’s mature songs deal with love, desires, self-acceptance, resilience and the complexities of modern life. Louder than War notes that her debut album – Sounds from Your Lips (Mothland, 2021) – “fuses 60s and early 70s psychedelia to create an indie dream pop vibe”, also adding: “The songs are of desire and playful sins, yet they convey a mature take on love in this era of elusive and brittle romance. Occasionally it’s a bit spicy too.” Meggie Lennon’s sophomore album, Desire Days, produced with Samuel Gemme, and featuring musicians from celebrated outfits such as Patrick Watson, Teke::Teke, Chocolat, and The Besnard Lakes, along with Quatuor Esca playing arrangements by Antoine Gratton, was released on June 20th, 2025 via Mothland, promising a new chapter in her evolving sound and vision.
