The Caprice Ensemble, under the direction of Matthias Maute, is preparing to offer Bach’s six Brandenburg Concertos in a single concert evening on June 2, 2026, at the Sainte-Famille Church in Boucherville. An exciting evening for any self-respecting music lover, as these examples of Bach’s genius are colourful, brilliant, rich, and complex with stimulating ideas. They are also extremely different from each other, which imposes on the performers, in addition to the formidable lines of virtuosity, constant adjustments in terms of dynamic playing, articulation, and expression. The six jewels of Baroque construction were never really designed to be played in one go. In preparation for this concert, I invite you to delve into these works with the conductor himself, Matthias Maute.
