She may not look the part, with her sulky pout and her casually rebellious attitude, but Sky Ferreira skillfully mixes synthpop and alternative rock with a healthy dose of noise on her first album, which she financed through her modeling work. Do not be misled by the roughed-up glower she displays on the cover, photographed by controversial director Gaspar Noé. This young woman is not afraid of anything. She’s not trying to reinvent the wheel, but she delivers the goods in a convincing and energetic way.
