As a logical follow-up to their 2018 album C’est pas la qualité qui compte, the Sherbrooke electro group Qualité Motel launches the EP C’est la quantité qui compte. So it’s with self-deprecation that the members of Valaire are releasing their third project under this name, a quarter-hour assemblage of danceable, fast-paced tracks. As usual, each track features an invited Quebec artist or group, from keb rap (Kirouac, Mike Clay, LaF) or pop (Claudia Bouvette). Each of the tracks on this project is well crafted, relying on simple but thoughtful production. The conclusion of the opus is undoubtedly its culmination, while the talents of LaF’s members are brilliantly exploited on “UV-B”. Once again, we spend a good (but very short) moment with Qualité Motel, who bombard us with earworms and incentives to wiggle our hips.
