Hior Chronik – Apofanie

· by Frédéric Cardin

Hior Chronik is a Greek artist based in Berlin (George Papadopoulos iis his real name). He drank deeply from classical and jazz for a long time and now cooks ambient electronic music, with influences ranging from Arvo Pärt to (of course) Erik Satie, via Brian Eno, the neoclassicals and Christian Löffler.

Apofanie is an album made up of a multitude of small cinematic scenes, adorned with the minimalist and delicate shimmer of colorful drops, making it a delight for the ears and the mind.

Hior Chronik paints a seductive setting animated by a gentle rhythmic energy, which avoids any urgency or dynamic stress. As a result, it exudes an atmospheric and floating aesthetic but never soporific. Hior Chronik is practically never alone on the album. Each piece is an opportunity to invite an artist, whether electro or classical-acoustic, such as Andy Aquarius (Germany), Yara Asmar (Lebanon), Asia Dojnikowska (Poland), Matt Emery (United Kingdom), Alexandra Hamilton-Ayres (United Kingdom), Hanakiv (Estonia), Hannes Kretzer (Germany), Kin Leonn (Singapore), Moshimoss (Japan), Tomasz Mrenca (Poland), Shuzhen (Malaysia), Natalia Tsupryk (Ukraine), Olga Wojciechowska (Poland). Hior Chronik’s style proves to be unifying and easy to integrate for a wide range of artists in the contemporary ambient/neoclassical field.

It’s very well done and highly recommended if you want a good soundtrack for your moments of meditation, reading, or studying.
