Francos de Montréal : Djely Tapa à la scène Rogers

Fri 20 Jun 2025 • 07:00 pm Africa / Blues / Jazz
Scène Rogers - Montréal Gratuit
· by Rédaction PAN M 360

Now based in Canada, Djely Tapa quickly became a fixture on the local music scene. Her journey includes major collaborations with artists such as Robert Lépine, Zal Sissokho, Afrotronix, the Kalabanté Circus, Afrikana Soul Sister, and Abdoulaye Koné. Encounters with seasoned performers—like fellow Malian Oumou Sangaré, Mexican singer Claudia Martinez, and Quebec artist Sylvie Desgroseillers—sparked new avenues for musical exploration and creative development.
In February 2019, Djely Tapa released Barokan, her debut album, under the Disques Nuits d’Afrique label. A true reflection of her musical identity, the album is a powerful tribute to women and African heritage. With her soaring voice, fiery delivery, and graceful stage presence, Djely Tapa is a refined and captivating vocalist. Her stunning vocal flights fade into hushed whispers, leaving audiences breathless as she moves fluidly between Sahelian atmospheres, blues, and electronic textures. In May 2019, she was named Radio-Canada’s World Music Revelation, and in June 2020, Barokan won the Juno Award for World Music Album of the Year.
