Trois trios russes qui vont droit au cœur ! Composées dans la tradition des trios élégiaques ou commémoratifs, ces pièces se distinguent à la fois par leur universalité et leurs couleurs slaves. Celui d’Arenski nous entraîne dans son atmosphère dramatique et son lyrisme dansant entre mélancolie et douceur. Rachmaninov, le dernier grand romantique dont on célèbre le 150e anniversaire de la naissance cette année, nous offre ensuite une musique à l’échelle de sa nation, les sonorités orientales croisant celles des chœurs de l’Église orthodoxe. Chostakovitch, quant à lui, transcende le particulier pour toucher à l’universel. La nostalgie du folklore russe s’y mêlant aux mélodies juives dans son œuvre inspirée par le deuil, la découverte des camps de concentration, et plus largement la guerre. Faisant également écho au conflit qui a fait fuir notre pianiste de son pays d’origine et pour qui les notes de ce concert résonneront avec une émotion particulière.
Three Russian trios that go straight to the heart! Composed in the tradition of elegiac or commemorative trios, these pieces stand out both for their universality and for their Slavic colours. Arensky’s trio draws us into its dramatic atmosphere and its lyricism which dances between melancholy and sweetness. Rachmaninoff, the last great Romantic whose 150th birthday we celebrate this year, then offers us music on the scale of his nation, where Eastern sounds meet those of the Orthodox Church choirs. Shostakovich, for his part, transcends the individual to touch the universal. The nostalgia of Russian folklore mingles with Jewish melodies in his work inspired by mourning, the discovery of the concentration camps and, more broadly, the trauma of war. It also echoes the conflict that caused our pianist to flee his native country and for whom the notes of this concert will resonate with a special emotion.
