Le deuxième album de Sam Jr, Inner Shadow, est sorti le 31 mai 2024 via Arts & Crafts (Echodelick Records aux États-Unis, Weird Beard au Royaume-Uni et Worst Bassist Records dans l’UE). Sombre, audacieux et contemplatif, cet album mêle ses tonalités caractéristiques de rock industriel fuzzy à des réflexions mélancoliques sur la vie moderne. Si vous appréciez le sleaze saturé des Stooges, le bruit parfaitement maîtrisé dans la veine de Spacemen 3 ou A Place to Bury Strangers, et l’idée, disons, de T. Rex reprenant certaines faces B obscures de Barbed Wire Kisses ou du Primal Scream de XTRMNTR remontant le temps pour recréer Screamadelica avec bien plus de cynisme… eh bien, vous êtes dans la bonne direction.

Dark, edgy, and contemplative, this album intersperses his signature fuzzy, industrial rock tones with his melancholic musings on modern living. If you enjoy overdriven Stooges sleaze and expertly deployed noise of the Spacemen 3 / A Place to Bury Strangers variety and the thought of, say, T. Rex covering some of the more obscure B-sides on Barbed Wire Kisses or the Primal Scream who made XTRMNTR going back in time to remake Screamadelica with far more cynicism … well, that’s in the ballpark.
Paige Barlow
C’est au travers d’un nouveau projet solo éponyme que l’auteure-compositrice-interprète Paige Barlow propose un son alliant folk et psychédélique en passant par la pop, le yéyé et le shoegaze. Originaire d’Atlanta, Paige a adopté la langue française et l’a intégrée à sa musique après son arrivée à Montréal, où elle réside toujours aujourd’hui. Son premier EP solo est paru au printemps 2024 sous l’étiquette Duprince.
With her new eponymous solo project, singer-songwriter Paige Barlow offers a sound that combines folk and psychedelia with pop, yéyé and shoegaze. Originally from Atlanta, Paige adopted the French language and integrated it into her music after arriving in Montreal, where she still resides today. Her first solo EP was released in may 2024.
