Donald Careau a pris sa retraite en 2023 après une carrière de 50 ans. À l’aube de ses 73 ans, il vous revient avec les plus grands succès de la chanson française. Le titre de son récital C’EST BEAU LA VIE s’en veut un de reconnaissance et de gratitude pour avoir chanté toutes ces années et pour le public qui l’a toujours soutenu. De Jean Ferrat à Serge Lama et de Nana Mouskouri à Dalida, en passant par quelques auteurs-compositeurs d’ici, de nombreux souvenirs vous attendent.

Lauréat du prix Sir Ernest MacMillan, il se distingue par un jeu riche mêlant groove, harmonie et profondeur. Ses compositions visent à émouvoir le public avec authenticité et créativité.

Claude Laflamme is a Quebec-based harp-guitarist renowned for his unique style and deep musical sensitivity. With an international career and frequent recognition in specialized guitar magazines, he has performed from Quebec to Japan and contributed to over fifty musical projects. Winner of the Sir Ernest MacMillan Award, Laflamme stands out for a rich playing style that blends groove, harmony, and depth. His compositions aim to move audiences with authenticity and creativity.

C’est l’esprit que font revivre nos deux complices, Jean Marchand partageant sa vie de pianiste avec sa carrière d’acteur, et Olivier Godin nourrissant la sienne avec la direction artistique de la Salle Bourgie. Ensemble, à travers des pages sublimes de Brahms et de Schubert, ils ravivent cette tradition d’écoute et de partage. Salon romantique célèbre l’art du piano et la chaleur de l’amitié.

In the 19th century, the piano held a central place in the salon, a space for exchange and intimacy, where music was experienced up close, among family or friends. It is this spirit that our two collaborators revive: Jean Marchand, sharing his life as a pianist alongside his career as an actor, and Olivier Godin, enriching his through his role as artistic director of Salle Bourgie. Together, through the sublime works of Brahms and Schubert, they rekindle this tradition of attentive listening and shared enjoyment. Trio SR9 avec Kyrie Kristmanson – Venus Rising à la salle d’Youville

« Il faut que la femme s’écrive : que la femme écrive de la femme et fasse venir les femmes à l’écriture, dont elles ont été éloignées aussi violemment qu’elles l’ont été de leurs corps. » C’est en gardant ces mots d’Hélène Cixous en tête que le Trio SR9 et Kyrie Kristmanson ont construit le projet Venus Rising, où les œuvres féminines, de Hildegard von Bingen à Björk en passant par Kate Bush sont à l’honneur. Le trio français SR9, qui se distingue par sa configuration audacieuse incluant piano préparé, marimba, gockenspiel et vibraphone, s’est fait connaître tant en solo qu’auprès d’artistes comme Blick Bassy, Camille et Thomas Fersen. La Canadienne Kyrie Kristmanson, véritable globe-trotter, est pour sa part à l’aise en anglais comme en français. Elle brille par sa polyvalence, comme en témoignent ses enregistrements, qui vont de l’indie folk au classique.

“Women must write themselves: women must write about women and bring women to writing, from which they have been as violently estranged as they have been from their bodies.” Keeping Hélène Cixous’ words in mind, the Trio SR9 and Kyrie Kristmanson created the project Venus Rising, celebrating works by female composers from Hildegard von Bingen to Björk and Kate Bush. The French Trio SR9, known for its bold instrumentation, including prepared piano, marimba, glockenspiel, and vibraphone, has made a name for itself both as a solo ensemble and in collaboration with artists such as Blick Bassy, Camille, and Thomas Fersen. Canadian singer-songwriter Kyrie Kristmanson, a true globetrotter, performs effortlessly in both English and French. The Admiral est le tout nouveau projet de Sébastien Lamothe, fondateur et directeur musical du groupe The Musical Box, qui n’a de cesse de remplir les salles au Québec et à l’étranger. Rock théâtral, western spaghetti et, bien sûr, progressif, sont au programme de ce spectacle que les amateurs du genre ne voudront pas rater! Après avoir passé plusieurs années dans l’univers de Genesis, c’est avec ses propres compositions que Sébastien Lamothe alias The Admiral vient jeter l’ancre au Palais Montcalm. Matériel anglophone et francophone seront au programme de cette soirée fort prometteuse.

The Admiral is the brand-new project by Sébastien Lamothe, founder and musical director of The Musical Box, a group that continues to sell out venues in Quebec and abroad. Theatrical rock, spaghetti western, and of course progressive music are all on the bill for this show that fans of the genre won’t want to miss. After spending several years immersed in the world of Genesis, Sébastien Lamothe aka The Admiral now drops anchor at the Palais Montcalm with his own original compositions. Both English- and French-language material will be featured in what promises to be a memorable evening.

Sussex revient au Palais Montcalm après une trop longue absence. Fidèle à lui-même, le duo se moque des étiquettes avec son mélange de six cordes acoustiques, de vibraphone et de pedal steel guitar sur lequel Rob Lutes, maintes fois primé aux Canadian Folk Music Awards, pose sa voix chaleureuse. Un rendez-vous plein de délicatesse, situé quelque part entre la folk et le blues. Formé en 2012, Sussex marque la réunion des amis d’enfance Rob Lutes et Michael Emenau après vingt années passées à peaufiner leurs projets respectifs, en solo pour le premier (il a sept albums à son actif) et à titre de percussionniste et de compositeur pour le second. Ensemble, les deux hommes ont donné naissance à une musique inspirée et subtile, comme en témoigne leur plus récent album, Shine.

Sussex returns to Palais Montcalm after far too long an absence. True to themselves, the duo defies labels with their blend of six acoustic strings, vibraphone, and pedal steel guitar, over which Rob Lutes, a multiple Canadian Folk Music Award winner, lays his warm, expressive voice. It’s an intimate and delicate encounter, somewhere between folk and blues. Formed in 2012, Sussex marks the reunion of childhood friends Rob Lutes and Michael Emenau after twenty years spent refining their respective paths, Lutes as a solo artist with seven albums to his name, and Emenau as a percussionist and composer. Together, the two musicians have created inspired, nuanced music, as showcased on their latest album, Shine.
