Wesli Louissaint was already a well-known quantity for the very high octane levels of his live sets and for his potion of Afro-Caribbean, Afrobeat, funk and rock music. Rapadou Kreyol brought us directly to the Magic Island, to the Haitian sources of the singer, composer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, band leader, and powerful frontman. His own updates and integrations of Haitian musical styles (voodoo, rara, troubadour, konpa, rasin) represent a major achievement, which earned him a 2019 Juno in the world-music category.
