Her Afro-Colombian and indingenous (Wayuu) origins, her queer identity, her Toronto base and, above all, her extraordinary artistic vision have led Lido Pimienta to transcend all facets of her experience and formulate a unique musical proposal: steaming broths of electronic fluids, paroxysmal songs, Afro-Latin and electro rhythms, arrangements, strings, reeds, brass, machines and synthesizers, all this adds up to a successful integration of pan-American cultures. An exceptional album, La Papessa won Pimienta the Polaris Prize in 2017.
