A short disc, barely over 30 minutes, on which the man puts aside his usual aplomb to tackle certain intimate and delicate subjects, in all humility and without prevarication. His unfailing sense of groove still supports the cadence of his verses as effectively as ever, except that here he isn’t joking around — the sadness and regret are palpable. A moving and courageous work, sometimes painful, but one where the light slips in between the lines.
