Directement de Montréal, K-Man & the 45s est un important membre de la scène ska depuis plusieurs années. Le mot s’est passé rapidement; en fait, dès que les gars montent sur scène, le public devient fou ! K-Man & the 45s ont partagé la scène avec des groupes tels que The Slackers, The Skatalites, Catch 22, The Brains et beaucoup plus !

K-Man & The 45s, where Ska meets Rock and Roll. With a fantastic horn section playing catchy melodic lines and blazing solos over an energetic rhythm section, they switch naturally from ska to rock and punk, with surf sounds often not far behind. They’ve shared the stage with a million bands including: The Slackers, Big D and The Kids Table, The Satellites, The Original Wailers , The Planet Smashers, The Brains and many more.

The Beatdown

Depuis 2009, ces vétérans de la scène underground montréalaise poussent le vieux son Jamaïcain qu’ils chérissent tant vers de nouveaux sommets en y incorporant entre autres des éléments de soul, de rock n’ roll, et de punk, livré avec cran.

They call it Northern Reggae…A one-hundred proof blend of raspy rocksteady, sizzling soul, surf swagger and punkrock pedigree shaken (not stirred) with a double shot of the roughest roots reggae your ears have ever tasted. Pour it into a highball glass over some ice-cold lyrics and you’ve got The Beatdown’s latest full-length offering “Walkin’ Proud”.

Loïc Lafrance

Loïc Lafrance est un.e auteur.e-compositeur.rice-interprète sorti.e tout droit du Bas-Saint-Laurent. Maintenant installé.e à Québec, l’artiste s’est lancé dans l’autoproduction en 2020, et un album (Le monde des adultes) et un EP (THÉÂTRE/VIOLENCE) sont nés directement de sa chambre. Le EP juxtaposait ses parcours en art et en sociologie et iel y exprimait sa frustration d’un système où les marginaux n’ont pas les mêmes chances que les personnes qui se situent au centre du spectre de la normativité sociale.
En septembre 2024, iel dévoile « La peur est une fleur », un album réalisé par Julien Mineau (Malajube). La musique prend ses inspirations du rock des années 2000, avec une plume imagée et symbolique. Accompagnée d’un son brut alliant grunge et pop, sa performance est d’un théâtral sincère. C’est un projet multidisciplinaire qui conjugue un son engagé et désinvolte à une mise en scène lumineuse, survoltée et maximaliste.

Loïc Lafrance is a singer-songwriter and performer from the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. Now based in Quebec City, the artist began self-producing in 2020, with an album (Le monde des adultes) and an EP (THÉÂTRE/VIOLENCE) emerging directly from their bedroom. The EP juxtaposed their background in both art and sociology, expressing frustration with a system where marginalized individuals don’t have the same opportunities as those at the center of the spectrum of social normativity.
In September 2024, they released “La peur est une fleur,” an album produced by Julien Mineau (Malajube). The music draws inspiration from 2000s rock, with a poetic and symbolic writing style. Accompanied by a raw sound blending grunge and pop, their performance is sincerely theatrical. It’s a multidisciplinary project that combines a bold, carefree sound with a vibrant, electrifying, and maximalist stage production.

Pataugeoire

Pataugeoire est le périmètre musical d’Agathe Dupéré (Safia Nolin, Pomme, Les Shirley, Embo/phlébite). Éclaboussant la scène musicale québécoise depuis une demi-décennie, elle façonne un « emo-aquatique » évocateur et kaléidoscopique. Fortement nourri par le emo, le grunge et le pop-punk des années 1990 et 2000 (The Pixies, Sonic Youth, (Sandy) Alex G, et Juliana Hatfield), pataugeoire crée un folk-alternatif volatil, ludique, aux accents noise-rock. Boisées et abrasives, ses chansons-velcro laissent sur leur passage des empreintes fredonnées et l’envie de pleurer et de crier.

Pataugeoire, the musical vessel of Agathe Dupéré, has been making a splash in the Quebec music scene for half a decade. In her emo-aquatic realm, new rules and boundaries and ever-transgressed. She brings evocative lyrics, hyper cubic melodies and a unique guitar sound on her quest for the ultimate “hook”. Heavily inspired by emo, grunge, and pop-punk from the 1990s and 2000s (The Pixies, Blonde Redhead, Sonic Youth, (Sandy) Alex G, Juliana Hatfield), pataugeoire creates volatile and playful alternative-folk with a tangy noise-rock twist.

Ada Lea

Ada Lea est le projet musical mené par Alexandra Levy, originaire de Montréal. Elle a sorti deux albums sous les labels Saddle Creek et Next Door Records (CA), notamment what we say in private et one hand on the steering wheel the other sewing a garden, qui lui ont valu une place sur la longue liste du Prix Polaris en 2022. Le troisième album d’Ada Lea, annoncé comme son meilleur à ce jour, est prévu pour 2025.

Ada Lea is the musical project led by Montreal’s Alexandra Levy. She has two albums released by Saddle Creek and Next Door Records (CA), including “what we say in private” and “one hand on the steering wheel the other sewing a garden”, which earned her a spot on the Polaris Prize Long List in 2022. The third Ada Lea album—rumoured to be her best yet—is set for release in 2025.

Prewn

Izzy Hagerup décrit le temps immersif passé en studio comme une expérience « bouleversante », en grande partie grâce à l’isolement total qui a permis de se concentrer uniquement sur la création. « Je pouvais vraiment être seule, ce qui m’a menée à être plus prolifique que je ne l’aurais jamais imaginé. » Le résultat est d’une beauté saisissante et d’une intensité viscérale triomphante. Ces sessions, combinées à quelques ajouts enregistrés à domicile (ensuite mixés et masterisés par McMahon), ont donné naissance à Through The Window, le premier album de Prewn, entièrement interprété par Izzy Hagerup, qui insuffle une touche unique à ses chansons. Sorti le 25 août 2023 sous le label Exploding In Sound Records (Pile, Ovlov, Floatie), l’album se distingue par l’immédiateté et la sincérité de ses enregistrements en solo. Au cœur de cet opus se trouve une expression brute et authentique d’idées et d’émotions. Izzy prépare actuellement le deuxième album de Prewn, dont la sortie est prévue sur Exploding In Sound en mars 2025. Restez à l’écoute !

Izzy Hagerup describes the immersive time spent in the studio as “life changing,” in large part due to the pure isolation where “creating was the focus and I could really be alone, leading me to find myself more prolific than I ever thought I could be.” The results are staggeringly beautiful and triumphantly visceral. Those sessions along with some home-recorded additions (later mixed and mastered by McMahon) came to be Through The Window, Prewn’s debut album, performed entirely by Izzy Hagerup, bringing her songs to life with a distinctive touch. Released August 25th, 2023 via Exploding In Sound Records (Pile, Ovlov, Floatie), there’s an immediacy and earnest nature to the solo recordings, at its core it’s an outpouring of unfiltered ideas and emotions. Izzy is readying the 2nd Prewn record for release on Exploding in Sound in March of 2025. Stay tuned!

Täbï Yösha

Polyvalente et passionnée, Täbï Yösha est une chanteuse québécoise d’origine haïtienne qui se distingue par sa voix riche et puissante. Suite à un début de carrière marqué par de nombreuses collaborations avec des figures issues des scènes hip hop et électro, elle lance True Colors, son premier EP en carrière sous Bonsound en août 2023. Témoignant d’une période caractérisée par des échecs amoureux et des relations déchues, True Colors prend la forme d’une collection de titres émancipateurs qui incarnent l’éternelle amoureuse qui subsiste dans le cœur de Täbï.

Versatile and passionate, Täbï Yösha is a Quebec singer of Haitian origin who distinguishes herself with her rich and powerful voice. Following numerous collaborations with figures from the hip hop and electro scenes, Täbï Yösha releasesTrue Colors, the first EP of her career via Bonsound in August 2023. Bearing witness to a period characterized by setbacks and heartbreak, True Colors takes the form of a collection of emancipating tracks that embodies the lover in Täbï’s heart.

Taverne Tour : Joe Sullivan Quintet

Joe Sullivan est originaire de Timmins, une ville située dans le nord de l’Ontario. Issu d’une grande famille franco-ontarienne, il a grandi dans un environnement où la musique occupait une place centrale au quotidien. Il a commencé son apprentissage musical par le piano avant de se tourner vers la trompette à l’âge de quinze ans. Pendant sa jeunesse, il a mené une vie riche en activités musicales, participant à des concours de piano classique, jouant dans des groupes de rock et faisant partie des orchestres de concert et de scène de son école secondaire. Il a également composé de la musique pour plusieurs productions théâtrales. En 1981, il a obtenu un baccalauréat d’arts en trompette classique à l’Université d’Ottawa. Sa passion pour le jazz l’a ensuite conduit à la Berklee School of Music, puis au New England Conservatory of Music, où il a décroché une maîtrise en études jazz en 1987.

Joe Sullivan comes from the Northern Ontario town of Timmins. He grew up in a large franco-ontarian family, where music was a part of daily life. He began his formal training on piano and later, at the age of fifteen, started playing the trumpet. During his youth, he led an active musical life that included classical piano competitions, rock bands and high school concert and stage bands. He also composed music for several theater productions. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in classical trumpet at the University of Ottawa in 1981. His interest in jazz led him to the Berklee School of Music, then to the New England Conservatory of Music, where he received a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies in 1987.

Basé à Montréal, il mêle des influences post-punk diverses avec des amplificateurs cassés, des synthétiseurs analogiques, des boîtes à rythmes rapides, des explorations texturales et des voix saturées, laissant le public à la fois nostalgique, inspiré et prêt pour un autre verre de vin.

Energetic, captivating, and occasionally tumultuous – distraction4ever is the latest band in town. The Montreal-based blends diverse post-punk influences with broken amplifiers, analog synthesizers, rapid drum machines, textural explorations and distorted vocals, leaving the audience simultaneously nostalgic, inspired and ready for another glass of wine.

The Drin

Le rock garage souterrain, le punk art eccentric, le dub menaçant et les ballades sombres et tendres prennent chacun leur tour sous les projecteurs. Les albums de The Drin sont des incursions vastes, débordant d’hymnes industriels-folk-dub écrits à l’ombre de vieilles usines datant de plusieurs décennies qui résonnent parfois encore de vie.

Subterranean garage rock, eccentric art punk, menacing dub, and bleak, tender ballads all take turns in the spotlight. The Drin albums are sprawling forays, teeming with industrial-folk-dub anthems written in the shadow of decades-old factories that still occasionally thrum with life.

Il Volo est l’un des trios italiens les plus célèbres au monde. Les voix extraordinaires de Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto et Gianluca Ginoble ont captivé le public sur tous les continents. Mulchulation II

Mulchulation II, est un projet qui s’est formé autour de l’amitié de Rose Cormier (Velours.Souterrain) et des trois électrons libres du Québec de Population II. Après une session d’improvisation et plusieurs pizzaghettis, une chanson a jailli entre eux. Laisse-Faire a été jouée lors de plusieurs spectacles durant le Québec World Tour 2024 de Population II en compagnie de Rose. Une rencontre avec MULCH, le groupe punk de Montréal dont Rose fait partie, était obligatoirement imminente. De cette rencontre en sort un fait évident.

Mulchulation II is a project born from the friendship between Rose Cormier (Velours.Souterrain) and the three free electrons of Quebec’s Population II. After an improvisation session and several pizzaghettis, a song emerged among them. Laisse-Faire was played at several shows during Population II’s Quebec World Tour 2024, with Rose joining them. A meeting with MULCH, the Montreal punk band Rose is part of, was inevitably imminent. From this encounter came an obvious truth.
The mutation had only just begun. They decided to record a split. A split EP. Are you following here?

OOZ

À l’origine un projet d’enregistrement, avec des membres de Hot Garbage, Possum et Kali Horse, OOZ évolue à la croisée du punk, du noise, du hardcore et bien plus encore. Le groupe crée un show live intense et viscéral qui brûle et pue comme du GAZ DIESEL.

Originally a recording project, featuring members of Hot Garbage, Possum and Kali Horse. OOZ rides the lines of punk, noise, hardcore and more. Creating an intense, visceral live show that burns and stinks like DEISEL GAS.

Trop Belle

Trop Belle est un groupe de punk/new wave déjanté, proposant une critique subversive et ironique du show business. Menée par Lolita Trop Belle, une diva à la beauté incroyable et qui chante à la française pour percer à l’international, la formation plonge son public dans un univers participatif, empruntant des codes tant bien au théâtre qu’à l’humour. À quelque part entre les B52’s et le Rocky Horror Picture Show, le quintette aborde des sujets parfois tabous, parfois absurdes, à l’aide d’un ton cathartique sur des sonorités punk.

Trop Belle is a quirky punk/new wave band offering a subversive and ironic critique of the show business. Led by Lolita Trop Belle, a diva with incredible beauty who sings in French to break through internationally, the band immerses its audience in a participatory universe, borrowing elements from both theater and humor. Somewhere between the B52’s and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the quintet tackles topics that are sometimes taboo, sometimes absurd, using a cathartic tone set to punk sounds.

Larynx

Fidèle à lui-même, Larynx est de retour avec un nouvel album tout droit sorti d’un espace-temps décalé où se côtoient irrévérence, créativité et absurde. Le multi-instrumentiste propose un rock inqualifiable, décidément champ-gauche, qui oscille d’un genre à l’autre sans crier gare. Parfois psych, country ou même garage, l’univers musical de Larynx n’a aucune limite, bien qu’on puisse y naviguer facilement en raison de son songwriting efficace et singulier.

True to himself, Larynx is back with a new album straight from an out-of-sync space-time where irreverence, creativity, and absurdity coexist. The multi-instrumentalist offers an undefinable rock sound, decidedly left-field, shifting from one genre to another without warning. Sometimes psychedelic, country, or even garage, Larynx’s musical universe knows no bounds, although it’s easy to navigate due to his effective and unique songwriting.
