Maison des arts participatifs (MAP) / Centre culturel Calixa-Lavallée - Montréal
· by Rédaction PAN M 360

Born in Mauritania and raised in Senegal, Daby Touré lived in Paris for more than a quarter of a century before recently moving to Montreal. Although his father and uncles formed the pioneering Afropop group Touré Kunda, Touré has always followed his own musical path, drawing inspiration from African folk melodies and desert blues, as well as jazz, pop, reggae, funk, and soul. With an open mind and the spirit of an explorer, his catchy songs will appeal just as much to fans of African music greats like Habib Koité and Youssou N’Dour as they will to enthusiasts of Bob Marley, Paul Simon, and Stevie Wonder. Throughout his career, Touré has shared the stage and the studio with artists as diverse as pop superstar Peter Gabriel, Algerian singer-songwriter Souad Massi, Italian folk music adventurer Enzo Avitabile, African-American bluesman Skip McDonald, French pop icon Maxime Le Forestier, and the Israeli-African collective The Touré-Raichel Collective. Whether performing solo or with his full band, Daby Touré never fails to captivate his audience with his ethereal voice, his mastery of the guitar, and his original, catchy compositions. He lights up even the darkest concert halls with his joyful performances and infectious passion for music.
