Kon-Fusion is a post-Manu Chao tropikalissimo-ska-cumbia-punk party band. The Montreal brigade mobilises a meaty ensemble of gleaming brass, propulsive percussion, guitars, and saxophones. They even invited friends like Shauit, Sonido Pesao, Diogo Ramos, and others. A condensed dose of a very sunny party, sound system atmosphere, a bubbling mix of styles and all sorts of sounds associated with them, vocal choruses chanted like latino urban anthems, in short, the well-known recipe is applied quite predictably. But one cannot deny the vital energy that emanates from it, which testifies to an authentic conviction in the unifying effect of this music. We want to hear them somewhere in the warmth of a Montreal summer, a park, a festival stage, or a community after hours around a corner in the Plateau, Mile-End, or Downtown. Guaranteed, the fun will catch on.
Kon-Fusion is holding the album launch concert on June 5, 2026, at the Belmont.
