An avant-garde gem, which has the potential to reach a wider audience than just the strictly experimental, so beautiful is the tapestry constructed by Branciforte and Dumoulin, aesthetically speaking. Featured: two Fender Rhodes pianos (an instrument inseparable from the iconic sound of the Doors, among others), and contemporary live sound processing equipment.
Scattered snippets and fragments of sounds from the two keyboards are sifted, distilled through the mesh of electronic lutherie. They are captured and relayed into space in various forms, from granular to spread, then layered into constructions (eight in total) that evoke post-glitch aesthetics and the post-minimalist movement, immersing our well-coddled ears in a sound bath that is sometimes ethereal, sometimes repetitive and hypnotic, sometimes cinematic.
Beyond all these niche references, if you are curious, it is enough to know that the final intention of the two artists (one American, the other Belgian) is to paint calm, beautiful, and seductive yet strange, intimate, and introspective paintings.
One of the most beautiful avant-garde albums you could ever listen to.
