Les Freaks de Montréal (un bummage à Lucien Francoeur) (22h30)
Le mythique groupe, formé en 1971 change la donne de l’univers musical au Québec avec ses trois albums déferlés entre ’74 et ’76. Une poésie de ruelle, crue, réelle, sur fond de rocaille sophistiquée et cinglante. En 2005, l’ami de longue date Ron McGregor reforme le groupe autour du guitariste OG Jacques Racine et son chanteur/poète Lucien Francoeur. Le collectif étoilé allie des membres de Voïvod, GrimSkunk, Groovy Aardvark, Tricky Woo, entre Aut’ et enregistre Chansons d’Épouvante. Une relecture collaborative des morceaux les plus marquants du répertoire. Ce Best Of servira de célébration vivante entre freaks de toutes générations partout en province pour les quinze années à suivre. 2025. Les Freaks de Montréal se regroupent pour rendre bummage à ses deux capitaines disparus à quelques jours d’intervalle en 2024.. Ils seront accompagnés d’invité.es brillants et scintillants, ‘teindus’ chacun à leur manière par l’influence de la musique et le propos hors piste de ce fauve indomptable du rock québecois, devenu légende.
The mythical band, formed in 1971, changed the course of Quebec’s musical universe with three albums released between ’74 and ’76. Alleyway poetry, raw and real, set against a backdrop of sophisticated, biting rock. In 2005, longtime friend Ron McGregor reformed the band around original guitarist Jacques Racine and its singer/poet Lucien Francoeur. The star-studded collective brought together members of Voïvod, GrimSkunk, Groovy Aardvark, Tricky Woo, Aut’Chose and more, and recorded Chansons d’Épouvante: a collaborative re-reading of the most striking pieces from the catalog. This Best Of became a living celebration among freaks of all generations across the province for the next fifteen years. 2025. The Freaks of Montreal reunite to pay tribute to their two captains, who passed away just days apart in 2024. They will be joined by brilliant, dazzling guests, each marked in their own way by the music and the off-the-rails vision of this untamable beast of Quebec rock, now a legend.
