Francos de Montréal : Tiken Jah Fakoly à la scène Rogers

Wed 18 Jun 2025 • 09:00 pm Africa / Reggae
Scène Rogers - Montréal Gratuit
· by Rédaction PAN M 360

Twenty-five years of career. A quarter-century of music, activism, triumphs, and hardships — and Tiken Jah Fakoly isn’t backing down. A true standard-bearer for Africa’s youth, whose thirst for freedom and change he champions, the modern reggae hero is also the voice of an entire continent. Known for his politically charged discography — as the titles of his albums clearly show — he has never stopped blending music with resistance: words as weapons, records as rallying cries. Born in Côte d’Ivoire and immersed in music from an early age, Tiken Jah Fakoly first conquered his home country before launching an international career that led him to collaborate with some of the greatest (Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare, Zebda, Steel Pulse, Bernard Lavilliers, Akon…). Over the course of ten albums, he has built a wild, untamed body of work — a sharp mix of defiance and rhythm, laced with bold statements on global politics. Threatened and forced into exile for speaking too loudly, the Ivorian artist remains a truly committed figure, both on stage and on the ground. Within the rich soundscape of his international reggae, he unites struggle with hope, resistance with celebration. Carried by a profound hope for future generations, the Fakoly caravan blazes a musical trail toward a better world.
