Given the huge success of her last album L’étoile Thoracique, released almost four years ago, the musical comeback of the spirited Klô Pelgag was eagerly awaited. On this teaser single, the singer’s unique vocal timbre is found wrapped in an atmosphere both mysterious and rhythmic. The traditional instrumentation – keyboards, drums, bass and guitar – is enhanced once again here with brass, adding an interesting layer to the texture and an orchestral colour that gives the work a grandiose, even transcendental aspect. Klô Pelgag surprises with a magnificently chaotic segment in the middle of her song, in which we find an amalgamation of keyboard, percussive noises and high-pitched vocal harmonies characteristic of the singer’s musical style, all supported by a rumbling bass. The result is intoxicating. “Rémora”, a substantial tune with poetic lyrics in Pelgag’s esoteric style , predicts an album just as original as its predecessors, and raises expectations a notch.
