AJJ est un groupe prolifique de folk-punk originaire de Phoenix, Arizona, dont le son sauvage intègre une instrumentation éclectique (cuivres, Theremin, mandoline, scie musicale) et explore une multitude de sujets allant de l’actualité et la politique à l’absurde. Après leurs débuts en 2005 sous le nom de Andrew Jackson Jihad, ils ont enregistré à un rythme effréné, publiant de nombreux singles D.I.Y., splits 7″, EPs et démos entre leurs albums studio, comme le très apprécié Can’t Maintain (2009) et Knife Man (2011). Ils se sont éloignés de leurs origines acoustiques sur Christmas Island (2014), avant de raccourcir leur nom en AJJ pour leurs sorties suivantes, comme Good Luck Everybody (2020) et Disposable Everything (2023), tout en offrant des commentaires spirituels et intenses sur eux-mêmes et la société à travers leurs nombreuses sorties annexes.

À 25 ans, le chanteur, auteur-compositeur et producteur originaire de Staten Island, Louis Attillio Vigorito, mieux connu sous le nom de Louyah, a prouvé que sa polyvalence en tant qu’artiste le distingue de manière unique. Élevé dans le sud du New Jersey, Louyah a fait ses débuts musicaux en tant que vocaliste et guitariste des groupes de metal Premonition et Idle Minds. Après six années passées en tant que membre de groupe, il a décidé de se lancer dans une carrière solo. En 2020, il a sorti son premier album studio intitulé Smile For Me, suivi de son EP VIRGO la même année, sous le label indépendant Loud Era Records. Plutôt que de se concentrer sur un seul genre, la musique de Louyah intègre un mélange éclectique de sons fusionnant pop, rock, rap et éléments R&B.

Chanteur, compositeur et musicien anglais polyvalent et énergique, Bruce Dickinson est surtout connu pour sa longue carrière en tant que chanteur principal du groupe légendaire de heavy metal Iron Maiden. Depuis ses débuts avec le groupe en 1982 avec le classique du genre Number of the Beast, il s’est imposé, aux côtés de ses contemporains comme Rob Halford et Ronnie James Dio, comme l’un des chanteurs les plus acclamés et immédiatement reconnaissables issus du mouvement de la New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Il a quitté le groupe en 1993 pour poursuivre une carrière solo, laissant derrière lui sept albums qui se sont vendus en or et en platine, avant de revenir dans le groupe en 1999, où il a passé les deux décennies suivantes à ajouter des points d’exclamation à l’héritage d’Iron Maiden avec des moments forts en fin de carrière, comme Brave New World et The Book of Souls. La version intensément brute du post-punk de Preoccupations est à la fois porteuse de vie et imprégnée d’angoisse existentielle. Leur premier album, Viet Cong (2015), mélangeait post-punk, pop psychédélique, shoegaze, noise et électronique de manière audacieuse, tout en conservant une pulsation profondément humaine. Cette connexion à l’humanité est restée une constante à travers leurs albums, bien que leur son ait évolué : plus subtil et ouvert sur Preoccupations (2016), plus hymnique sur New Material (2018), et plus frontal sur Arrangements (2022).

Preoccupations’ beautifully rough version of post-punk is equally life-affirming and well-versed in existential dread. The band’s debut album, 2015’s Viet Cong, mixed post-punk, psych-pop, shoegaze, noise, and electronics in fearless ways that nevertheless maintained a very human pulse. This connection to their humanity remained on all of their albums, though Preoccupations’ music became subtler and more open-ended on 2016’s Preoccupations, more anthemic on 2018’s poised New Material, and more confrontational on 2022’s Arrangements.

Kassie Krut a débuté comme projet solo, son nom déformant malicieusement celui de son créateur, Kasra Kurt, guitariste et chanteur de Palm. Tandis que le quatuor de Philadelphie explorait de nouvelles sonorités autour de la guitare, ce projet parallèle permettait à Kurt d’expérimenter avec l’électronique et de développer des idées plus personnelles. Lorsque Palm s’est séparé en 2023 après dix ans et trois albums acclamés, Kurt a déménagé à New York avec Eve Alpert, co-guitariste et chanteuse du groupe, ainsi que Matt Anderegg, producteur de leur dernier disque. Ensemble, ces amis et collaborateurs de longue date ont donné naissance à une nouvelle version de Kassie Krut, désormais un trio.

Kassie Krut began as a solo act, its name impishly garbling that of its maker, Kasra Kurt, who otherwise served as a guitarist and vocalist in Palm. While the Philadelphia-based four-piece undertook bracing new adventures in guitar music, the side project was a venue for Kurt to indulge his taste for electronics and set stray ideas to simmer. When Palm called it quits in 2023, after ten years and three acclaimed albums, Kurt decamped to New York with Eve Alpert, the band’s co-guitarist/vocalist, and Matt Anderegg, who produced Palm’s final record. Playing together, the longtime friends and collaborators christened a new, three-headed incarnation of Kassie Krut.

Une plongée de trois heures dans l’univers de la musique acousmatique, immersive et spatialisée en temps réel, avec le résultat de plusieurs décennies de collaboration entre la Belgique et le Québec.
Julien Guillamat et Annette Vande Gorne présentent des œuvres imaginées au sein des studios multiphoniques de Musiques & Recherches en Belgique. En première partie, Annette Vande Gorne, figure emblématique de la musique acousmatique, présente Vox Alia, un cycle de cinq pièces autour de la voix, premier vecteur émotionnel et musical, support ancestral de toute communication. En deuxième partie, Julien Guillamat interprète sa dernière composition, Altitudes, puis un extrait de sa Symphonie de l’étang, une œuvre sonore immersive basée sur le paysage sonore de l’étang de Thau. Les œuvres de Francis Dhomont, Piazza, Ana Dall’Ara-Majek et Robert Normandeau témoignent également des échanges entre Montréal et Musiques et Recherches.

A three-hour immersion into the world of acousmatic, immersive and spatialized music in real time, with the result of decades of collaboration between Belgium and Quebec.
Composers Julien Guillamat and Annette Vande Gorne present works imagined in the multiphonic studios of Musiques & Recherches in Belgium. In the first part, Annette Vande Gorne, an emblematic figure in acousmatic music, presents Vox Alia, a cycle of five pieces based on the voice, the primary emotional and musical vector, and the ancestral medium of all communication. In the second half, Julien Guillamat performs his latest composition, Altitudes, followed by an extract from his Symphonie de l’étang, an immersive sound work based on the soundscape of the Etang de Thau. Works by David Piazza, Ana Dall’Ara-Majek and Robert Normandeau also testify to the exchanges between Montreal and Musiques et Recherches.

Lorsqu’ils ont fait leurs débuts au début des années 90, les infatigables rockeurs du Maryland, Clutch, mélangeaient des éléments de funk et de metal, inspirés par Faith No More et Led Zeppelin. Au fil des décennies, ils se sont construit un public fidèle grâce à des tournées incessantes et à des albums qui ont marqué la scène rock alternatif, notamment Clutch et The Elephant Riders à la fin des années 90, puis tout au long des années 2000. Dans les années 2010, le quatuor vétéran a atteint de nouveaux sommets, connaissant un succès tardif avec Earth Rocker (2013) et Psychic Warfare (2015), qui se sont tous deux hissés dans le Top 15 du Billboard 200. Poursuivant leur lancée dans les années 2020, ils ont sorti leur 13ᵉ album, Sunrise on Slaughter Beach, en 2022, suivi d’une série d’archives live intitulée PA Tapes.
