Half French, half Dominican, 100% Montrealer since 2018, Thelonius Garcia is a pianist and composer trained in classical music and then jazz. This Marche nocturne, bathed in the subdued, intimate light of a very fashionable neoclassicism, evokes the same kind of exercises undertaken by Nils Frahm and Ryuichi Sakamoto. A few subtle jazz folds and occasional classical breezes (Chopin) dress up this measured stroll down one of the Metropole’s streets, one evening or another, whatever the season. But it’s sure to be a moment of serene bliss.
