The second album from American cyber-folkster Bon Iver is a pinnacle of songwriting, orchestration and production in the field of indie folk designed in a digital environment. Already confirmed by 2007’s For Emma, Forever Ago was Iver’s ability to spill his guts on the table, to link his poignant countertenor flights to a very solid blend of folk, rock, electro and chamber music. Iver’s homonymous 2011 album was extraordinary in this respect, demanding in its performance, rich in its instrumentation, intense in its emotional charge. Moreover, its transposition to the live stage invited great moments of transcendence.
