This isn’t the first time I’ve talked to you about LYDOL. But this time, it’s to introduce you to her latest EP, Élixir, released in November 2025, which, in my opinion, deserves its place in the top 100 of 2025.
Comprising six tracks that blend slam, poetry, music, singing, and performance, this project is a continuation of this artist’s work, who is a proponent of therapy through words and music. She does this in different languages, including French, English, Lingala, and Kikongo, which adds to the richness of her work.
Among the musicians she has collaborated with is Haitian guitarist Mitcheal Madner Henry.
In the track “Afili,” LYDOL collaborates with Congolese artist Hendry Massamba, in which they together call for peace and freedom. However, my favourite remains “On garde le sourire,” which is very representative of the artist.
The finalist for RFI’s Discovery Award is now based in Montreal, and you may have seen her at the Nuits d’Afrique International Festival in July 2025 or at concerts throughout the city.
One thing is certain: after Slamthérapie in 2018, Hybride in 2022, and Fragile in 2024, Élixir will continue to serve as a remedy, as this antidote specially concocted by LYDOL will allow us to relieve certain ailments with her words.
