En septembre 2017, David Dugas Dion (Cuchabata Records) a contacté une soixantaine de musiciens pour les inviter à participer à un gigantesque projet de compilation sur vinyle dont il souhaitait produire sur son label indépendant et à but non lucratif. Près de cinq ans plus tard (début 2022), le projet est enfin en train de se concrétiser ! Cuchabata Records lancera 60×44 le 19 juin lors d’un BBQ organisé par le festival Suoni Per Il Popolo. Lors du lancement, plusieurs participants qui ont contribué par leurs morceaux musicaux à la compilation prendront la scène sous la forme de quatuors “inexistants”, donnant dans l’improvisation libre et autres musiques abstraites (ou non). Les musiciens qui participeront auront leur nom tiré au sort quelques jours avant l’événement, ne sachant donc pas avec qui ils joueront. Cuchabata Records présente 60×44, une compilation vinyle de 60 morceaux de 44 secondes, provenant de 60 artistes solos de Montréal et d’ailleurs.
In September 2017, David Dugas Dion (Cuchabata Records) contacted around sixty musicians to invite them to take part in a gigantic compilation project on vinyl which he wanted to produce on his independent, non-profit label. Almost five years later (early 2022), the project is finally coming to fruition! Cuchabata Records will release 60×44 on June 19th during a BBQ organized by the Suoni Per Il Popolo festival. During the launch, several participants who have contributed their musical pieces to the compilation will take the stage by storm, in the form of “non-existent” quartets (until then), giving into free improvisation and other abstract music (or not). The musicians participating will have their names drawn a few days before the event, thus not knowing who they will play with. Cuchabata Records presents 60×44, a vinyl compilation of 60 44-second tracks, from 60 solo artists from Montreal and elsewhere.
