Formerly known as Dirty Beaches, musician Alex Zhang Hungtai is constantly reinventing himself to best work the fertile ground of experimentation. Armed with his saxophone, he offers a dense, complex and captivating album, composed mainly of sketches for the instrument, which he has reworked in the studio with his faithful acolyte Pierre Guerineau (Essaie Pas, Feu St-Antoine). The result is both familiar and foreign, while the sound of the saxophone is transformed and modulated until it becomes unrecognizable. A timeless album that proves to be an ideal soundtrack for this era of uncertainty.
