Par la fenêtre de sa chambre, un homme d’âge mûr regarde fleurir un magnolia et décide d’en faire le témoin de ses questionnements. Entre un rendez-vous médical, le choix d’une urne et une marche en forêt avec son petit-fils, il réfléchit, doute, chante. Habité par la quête de quelque chose de plus grand que soi, il cherche, dans les mots et la musique, une façon de faire la paix avec ce qui fut et d’entrevoir ce qui vient après. Avec Après on va où ?, Michel Rivard poursuit son exploration du théâtre-récit en mêlant poésie et chanson. Accompagné sur scène de trois musiciens, il signe une œuvre douce et lucide, pleine de tendresse et d’humour, une traversée sensible portée par ce qui nous dépasse, ce qui nous relie, ce qui nous élève.
Through the window of his bedroom, a middle-aged man watches a magnolia tree bloom and decides to make it the silent witness to his reflections. Between a medical appointment, choosing an urn, and a walk in the forest with his grandson, he reflects, doubts, and sings. Driven by the search for something greater than oneself, he looks, in words and in music, for a way to make peace with what has been and to glimpse what might come after. With Après on va où ?, Michel Rivard continues his exploration of narrative theatre, blending poetry and song. Accompanied on stage by three musicians, he presents a work that is gentle and clear-eyed, full of tenderness and humor, a sensitive journey carried by what transcends us, what connects us, and what lifts us higher.
