The now-Parisian trio returns to haunt us with Un, deux, trois, an almost logical sequel to the celebrated Ouh Là Là, released in 2017 – and listed in our Top 360. Without being revisionist or a simple pastiche of all the references that could fit the group, Juniore wears its penchant for French-language yéyé with class and brio. Slightly melancholic, with grey-blue hues, Juniore’s music sometimes calls for reverie and at others, madness. Between dreamlike flights, underwater surf-rock and lysergic flashes, the trio remains ferociously pop, without ever falling into the facile or the saccharine. With a slightly detached voice, sometimes sensual or sarcastic, singer Anna Jean draws us into her stories of impossible loves, caustic observations and other bitter disillusions, never losing an ounce of charm. Completely considered and perfectly mastered, the combo’s music is to be savoured without moderation. Not yet ex-fans of the ’60s, these three, and it’s perfect like that.
