Hippie Hourrah – 19h30

Bon trip!

The psychedelic rock trio Hippie Hourrah draws on the diverse musical and artistic universe of its three talented principals, Miles Dupire-Gagnon, Gabriel Lambert and Cédric Marinelli. For their 2nd album, Exposition individuelle, released last winter, the musicians drew inspiration from the work of painter Jacques Hurtubise to create a high-flying concept album. A spellbinding, mystical ride on analog instrumentation packed with textures and echoes. Bon trip!

Anyone who’s stretched their evening during a Canailles show, or had a kick for the retro-psychedelic rock of Bon Enfant, already has some idea about LUMIÈRE. A solo project by Étienne Côté, seen in the aforementioned bands, the musician expresses the quest of his stage persona in no uncertain terms on his most recent album, Glam, with its classic-rock effluvia, when he says: “I make my living from rock / not classical / I’ve never been able to read music”. But make no mistake. Because Côté’s proposal represents an enormous amount of research into sonic textures and timbres, earning him a place among the groups propelling the revival of Quebec rock.

Philippe Brach – 21h30

Chicoutimi’s incomparable musician marks 2023 with an unexpected comeback. After a professional hiatus, during which he traveled to Africa and worked as a stage director, he has now released Les gens qu’on aime, an album that is musically in keeping with his work. We plunge into rock and folk territory, notice the 1970s timbre that emanates from the whole, wonder with him about the idea that the house is burning down, and say to ourselves that, in the end, this is pure Brach and we’d been bored stiff.
