Ces virtuoses au parcours exceptionnel n’ont cessé de repousser les limites de leur art. À travers des choix artistiques judicieux, le Duo Fortin-Poirier a toujours cherché à conjuguer audace et accessibilité, demeurant fidèle à sa mission : valoriser le répertoire pour piano à quatre mains. Le Duo Fortin-Poirier se distingue par sa musique et par une impressionnante chorégraphie à quatre mains, qui se déploient en direct sur grand écran. Amélie Fortin et Marie-Christine Poirier ont développé le « piano chorégraphique à quatre mains », inspiré par la nage synchronisée, caractérisé par une signature pianistique musicale et visuelle. Au programme, les duettistes présentent 6 compositeurs et proposent un voyage musical et visuel, aux couleurs et rythmes flamboyants. Des motifs folkloriques de Ravel, à la fraîcheur nordique de Grieg, aux intonations russes de Rachmaninov, à la passion argentine de Piazzolla, à l’intensité lyrique de Víctor Simón, sans oublier les motifs orientaux des Danses polovtsiennes de Borodine – chacune de ces œuvres, qui vous transporte dans l’intimité, révèle un univers émotionnel unique.
Known for the contagious and inspiring chemistry between its two performers, the Duo Fortin-Poirier is considered one of the most dynamic Canadian piano duos of its generation. Since meeting in 2005, Amélie Fortin and Marie-Christine Poirier have performed together hundreds of times across Canada and internationally. These virtuosos, each with an exceptional artistic path, have continually pushed the boundaries of their art. Through thoughtful artistic choices, the Duo Fortin-Poirier has consistently sought to combine boldness with accessibility, while remaining true to its mission: promoting the piano four-hands repertoire. The duo stands out not only for its musicianship, but also for its remarkable four-hand choreography, projected live on a giant screen. Amélie Fortin and Marie-Christine Poirier have developed what they call “choreographic piano four-hands,” inspired by synchronized swimming and distinguished by a musical and visual pianistic signature. In this program, the duo presents works by six composers and invites audiences on a musical and visual journey filled with vibrant colors and rhythms. From the folk-inspired motifs of Ravel, to the Nordic freshness of Grieg, the Russian inflections of Rachmaninov, the Argentine passion of Piazzolla, the lyrical intensity of Víctor Simón, and the oriental flavors of Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances – each work transports listeners into an intimate and unique emotional universe.
